  • What do we know about the Samsung Galaxy S10/e/Plus? When is the release, specifications

According to leaks, there are only a few days left until the launch of one of Samsung’s most anticipated series. We are talking about the Galaxy S10 family, which is expected to include: Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10e and Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. How they will look like, how they will differ from each other and what their parameters will be we will find out officially on February 20, in the meantime I will include leaks or rumors about them below.

    Dimensions:

What do the dimensions of the new devices in the series look like? Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to be a medium-sized variant. Its height is approximately 148.9mm, width is about 70.9mm and thickness is 7.8mm. A slightly smaller device, according to the manufacturer’s claims, will turn out to be the Samsung Galaxy S10e. Its dimensions are likely to be 142.2 x 70.4 x 7.9mm. Of the three, the largest will by far be the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus – as befits the addition of “Plus.” It is expected to reach 157.7mm high, 75mm wide and 7.8mm thick.

    Screen:

In terms of screen sizes, it looks as follows. The Samsung Galaxy S10e, or the smallest version, is expected to be equipped with a 5.8-inch flat screen. The fact that the screen will be flat may prove to be a good marketing ploy, in my opinion. In the era of today’s curved screens, which do not suit everyone, this will be one of the few interesting options with an unobstructed front panel. The mid-range version, the Samsung Galaxy S10, is expected to receive a 6.1-inch screen. In this version of the device, it is already expected to be rounded, just like in the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. This variant, in turn, will boast a screen that reaches a diagonal of 6.44 inches.

When discussing the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Plus screens, we can’t forget to mention that the front camera and fingerprint reader have been placed directly in the screen – with the smallest of the brothers being deprived of this facility. It may also be interesting to note that the devices in this family will receive Infinity Display O screens, which is characterized by cutouts in the screen with room for camera lenses. The displays, of course, made with Super AMOLED technology.

    Components:

Samsung Galaxy S10 on the market is expected to be available with two chips: Snapdragon 855 and Exynos 9820. It is also interesting to note that this series of devices will be the first with OneUI, the Korean manufacturer’s new overlay.

In terms of memory, the Galaxy S10 Plus will be able to be equipped with as much as 12GB of RAM and 1TB of space for the user’s own data! Other options for this version of the smartphone also include, respectively: 6GB of RAM and 128GB of usable storage, or 8GB and 512GB of storage. In the Samsung Galaxy S10, it is in vain to look for this top version. So it follows that the Samsung Galaxy 10 will have 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage or 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The cheapest version – Samsung Galaxy S10e is to be endowed with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of user memory.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to be equipped with a 3500mAh battery, the S10e with 3100mAh, and the S10 Plus with 4000mAh. The devices are also expected to feature inductive charging.

    Camera:

The S10e is likely to feature a 2 x 12Mpix camera with f/1.5-f/2.4 apertures. The S10 is expected to offer us a dual sensor: 12 Mpix, f/1.5-f/2.4 and 16 Mpix, f/1.9. The S10 Plus is expected to include the previous two sensors enhanced with a third 13 Mpix camera with f/2.4

Which case for the S10 series?

Despite the fact that there is more than a week left until the launch of Samsung’s new flagships, the manufacturers we work with have decided to create a wide range of cases, so that from the first minutes of using your smartphone you can do it safely with the right protection. A wide assortment of Galaxy S10 cases by Spigen or Ringke will allow you to choose the best protection option today – depending on your needs, expectations and taste. Whether silicone transparent, hybrid, armored, slim, with military design – all this and much more can be found in the Home Screen store. Because the safety of your smartphone our priority – from the first seconds of its use. While here you can find a more comprehensive article if you have doubts about choosing a cover for your new Samsung.

    Price and summary:

We already know the specifications of the devices to a large extent, but what about the price? How much will you have to pay for the different variants? If rumors are to be believed, you’ll have to get ready to buy the cheapest version, the S10e, for about 3,500 zlotys. So how much would you have to spend if you want to buy the more expensive versions? They will be an expense starting from, probably, 4.3 thousand zlotys. Will they be worth the price? We will find out soon, but I am already sure that they will find many buyers!

  • Ringke Slim case in daily use – how does it perform?

When you consider buying a protective case, do you think about whether it actually meets the manufacturer’s claims? Does it actually fulfill the role of aesthetics and protection of the smartphone? Well, because how can such a small amount of plastic effectively protect the device? For several weeks I have had the pleasure of testing the Ringke Slim case. It is one of the slimmer and more resistant smartphone cases of its kind, but like any product it has its advantages and disadvantages, which I am about to outline.

    Comfort of use

The comfort of using a smartphone equipped with Ringke Slim undoubtedly improves, because the device is not so slippery and perfectly adapts to the shape of the hand so that it lies in the hand more stable. An important indicator here is the fact that the phone so far during use has not once slipped out of my hand, although with other cases it happened notoriously, because I have too small a hand to handle my device. Moreover, exactly as the manufacturer assures, the case is very nice to the touch.

As for the application of the case to the smartphone, the matter is simple. Thanks to the notched corners, we prevent possible cracks caused by stress when applying or removing the case. You don’t have to use extraordinary force to put it on or take it off, which is clearly a plus.

Access to the keys and sockets is exposed. You may or may not like this, it is a completely personal issue. There are two sides to the coin. On the one hand, it’s nice, because the buttons are more intuitive, easier to feel, but on the other hand, this part is much more vulnerable to damage, due to the cutouts.

    Appearance

As soon as I saw this case I decided that I had to be its owner. My special attention was drawn to the variant with a beautiful color – Rose Gold. Classic, elegant case, and on top of that in such a color…. What to want more? After applying the case, the iPhone looked great, and I can say that I was enchanted with it. Ringke Slim is a relatively minimalist product. It has a uniform color, only in the lower right corner you will find the manufacturer’s logo.

After a few weeks of use, I also noticed quite a few scratches on the case. They must have formed with normal daily use, for example, when storing the iPhone in a bag, or several falls from a small height. The fact is that this is a feature of the material used and the large majority are only visible in the right light, but the case itself no longer looks as beautiful as it did at the beginning.

    Protection

The phone secured in this very case fell several times to me from the couch or table. Seemingly small distances, but as you know, and such a fall can cause a lot of damage. As I wrote earlier , the case has already collected some scratches, but there is not a single dent or crack – which pleases me immensely, and my smartphone thanks to Ringke Slim remained intact.

I freely admit that when applying this case, after using several other, much more armored ones, I thought “uuuuuuu, it’s going to be lousy, I see it poorly” in terms of protection. It cancels out absolutely everything! Despite its slim appearance, my iPhone is in truth solidly protected.

    Summary and price

Ringke Slim’s regular price is $49 (in our store they are often lower), which I think is a good price for this product. You get a solid level of protection and a sleek, feminine look. At this price it would be hard to find something as slim, resistant, giving similar comfort of use, perfectly fitted to the shape of the device, and to please the eye with such a color. The only drawback is that the scratch resistance level is too low – here the manufacturer could improve its product.

  • News from Apple – conference tomorrow!

September’s biggest technological event is imminent. Tomorrow, September 12, Apple will show us its new devices. What will they actually be? No one is 100% sure, although the Internet is buzzing with leaks and rumors about the novelties. Even more sensational is the fact that it is not known what names the iPhones presented on Wednesday will bear. Below we have gathered information about the new devices from Apple.

According to leaks, all new iPhones will feature Face ID facial recognition and the iconic notch, while wide bezels and the Touch ID button have been definitely abandoned. Gestures are to be used to control the system, which, according to the manufacturer, are expected to make using the smartphone more convenient, faster and intuitive.
Since Apple is still keeping us in the dark about the naming, for the purposes of the article let’s assume the nomenclature that has been proposed in the latest, most recent reports, i.e. iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Plus. The third device will be a budget model, with an LCD screen, whose name is likely to be the Xc.

The iPhone Xs will feature an OLED screen, measuring 5.8 inches, exactly like last year’s iPhone Xs. The much larger iPhone Xs Plus will get a huge OLED display, measuring 6.5 inches. In addition, Apple will reportedly introduce a display mode similar to that of iPads, that is, the app in portrait mode is to be divided into two parts: one devoted to additional options related to app functions.

A new chip is expected to appear in both models, namely – the Apple A12 chip. This is to be the first processor to go into commercially available smartphones, made with 7nm technology. The new chip is expected to significantly “bounce back” from the competition, offering performance at the highest level. In addition, the iPhone Xs Plus and iPhone Xs will feature 3-4 GB of RAM and, depending on the version, 64, 256 or even 512 GB for files.
Much less interesting and noteworthy may be the budget version of the iPhone, which is expected to continue to run on the two-year-old A10 processor that debuted in the 7 and 7 Plus. In addition, users will get 3 GB of RAM and most likely, depending on the version, 64 GB or 256 GB for files, and the screen in this version is made with LCD technology and will be 6.1 inches.

According to rumors, the iPhone Xs is expected to look almost identical to last year’s X. The Xs Plus, on the other hand, is simply expected to be larger, but is expected to retain the existing design. As for colors, three variants are suggested – white, space gray (star gray) and gold.

The new iPhones are immediately expected to run under the control of iOS 12, in which Apple seems to be betting on optimization and improved stability. The long-awaited sorting of notifications is also expected to be an important feature.
In terms of cameras, we should not set our sights on some big revolution. Among the rumors, there is only talk of minor camera improvements over previous models. Apple, however, has decided to improve charging, as the new devices will come with a charger of as much as 18W.

And now for some detailed specifications of the new devices from Apple:

The first device will be 12.9 inches, while the second will be 11 inches diagonally.

Another proposition Apple will come out with is the new Apple Watch Series 4 with a larger display. This will be the first design change since its introduction. Leaks say that there will be two versions of the watch with similar dimensions, but with a 1.57-inch 1.78-inch envelope. It’s also highly likely that we’ll get a new version of AirPods headphones, which are expected to be, among other things, rainproof and work better with Siri. The presentation of the AirPower mat, which will allow users to afford simultaneous wireless charging of AirPods, Apple Watch and iPhone, could also be an important debut.

  • Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite – solid smartphones at a good price

Chinese precision manufacturing combined with a fairly affordable price and good solutions. Xiaomi, as the company is referred to, has just launched two new smartphones. • What kind of car holder to choose?

Smartphone in the car – a perennial topic of contention. A needed helper or a distracting, danger-creating necessary evil? If you are a proponent of using navigation, maps or simply playing music in the car then you are certainly looking for some good, proven phone holder. What to choose? What to suggest and what to pay attention to? We will try to bring this issue closer today.

The most important thing is that the holder does not obstruct visibility and that by having it we do not start causing danger on the road. When choosing, we should be guided by several key parameters. The first of these is the quality of manufacture. The better it is, the safer the device is and the longer the life of the mount. Often quality goes hand in hand with price, so the cheap ones can be almost disposable. The plastics will bend quickly and the foams will get worn out, which can cause our device to slip out of the holder while driving. As we know, our first, unconditional reflex will be to try to catch the falling phone, which has the effect of diverting our attention from what it should be focused on – the road. At Home Screen, we strive to introduce mounts that are solidly made and do not pose a danger to the driver and his passengers.

The second thing you should absolutely pay attention to is the dimensions of the mount. It is important that the smartphone fits in it, but it is definitely paramount that it is not so large that it significantly limits visibility. This is especially important for variants mounted to the windshield or dashboard.

It is also worth getting acquainted with the flexibility of the jaw spacing. This is especially important when the car is driven by more than one person, as they will also be able to install their smartphone in the holder without problems.

The most popular types of mounts available on the market:

      windshield mounts
    • ,
    • mounts attached to the grille,
    • mounts mounted on the dashboard.

    Windshield mount

The most popular of these are undoubtedly windshield-mounted holders. They have a lot of advantages, but unfortunately, like everything, they also have drawbacks. The undeniable plus is that the device is close to the windshield, which allows us to look at the screen freely, which is especially important when driving with navigation running. Also in favor of this type of mount is the easy installation and versatility of the mount.

The disadvantage of these mounts is that the suction cups are unfortunately unreliable. An improperly mounted holder can cause it to “detach” from the windshield while driving. This can also be influenced by many other factors, including greasy windshield or high temperatures. The big downside is also that such mounts limit the driver’s field of vision, which significantly affects driving comfort and safety.

Examples of grips of this type:

    Car grille mount

Grips that are mounted to the windshield grille, despite their many advantages, are also not free of disadvantages. The mount does not limit visibility and allows easy access to the device. On the other hand, it causes deteriorated ventilation in the cabin, due to the fact that it covers part of the ventilation hole. There is also the possibility of overheating of the smartphone, especially in winter, when hot air comes from the vent, which may cause the device to refuse to cooperate.

    Examples of such mounts:

    Dashboard mount

Dashboard mounts are one of the most commonly used solutions. It is an attractive option especially due to the fact that we can place such a holder anywhere on the dashboard. However, they are most often attached with a suction cup or glue, which allow for a solid mounting to both the dashboard and the windshield. The fact is, we will have easy access to the device, but such a solution can also cause a reduction in the visibility of the driver.

Examples of mounts of this type:

New – Auto Lock smart mounts

In addition to the categories of mounting type, smart mounts are a novelty with us. Their built-in infrared proximity sensor detects the presence of the smartphone and automatically tightens the jaws, securing the smartphone if necessary. Release of the jaws is accomplished by a touch-sensitive button on the right side of the case. This type of holder needs power to perform its function, which is needed anyway to run the inductive charger that is implemented in it. A very convenient solution that has the advantage of a magnetic holder and a wireless charger.

Examples of holders of this type:

So which one should you choose? It already depends on the model of the smartphone and the model of the car we drive. What kind of holder we should choose is also influenced by what we will use our smartphone for. However, it is worth bearing in mind that what matters most is safety, and this should be the main criterion for choosing a holder!

  • Tempered glass, hybrid glass or film – which is better?

Nowadays we take our smartphones with us literally everywhere, making them exposed to all sorts of dangers lurking at every turn. The most vulnerable to scratches, cracks or dirt is the screen, with its damage apparently affecting the comfort of use. As you know, even the cheapest screen protection will be better than none at all. So which option should you choose to best protect the front panel of your device? Tempered glass or a film? Or is it worth investing in hybrid glass?

    Protective film:

    folia-ringke-dual-easy-full-cover-iphone

With a protective film, we will gain the most aesthetic, least visible, but not necessarily the best protection. This solution, unfortunately, is not the most advantageous due to the thickness of the coating that the film forms, and there is a relatively low strength. The downside is also the difficulty of installing the film on the screen. A lot of hard-to-remove “bubbles” may form, through which our protective layer will not stick as it should, which also means it will not be as effective as it could be. It is worth noting that this is one of the cheaper and more effective options for protecting the front panel of a smartphone, where it is heavily curved.

    Tempered glass:

    szklo-hartowane-benks-kr-015mm-iphone-xs

Tempered glass is a much better protection than film, but less aesthetically pleasing, by being thicker and much more visible on the device, which will bother some users. A big advantage of this type of protection is the ease of installation, as long as our device has a flat front panel. If our smartphone has rounded edges, the matter gets a bit more complicated and no longer everyone will be able to cope with the installation themselves. Importantly, the tempered glass can be removed and put on repeatedly, so you can safely make several attempts in case of failure.

    Hybrid glass:

    szklo-hybrydowe-3mk-flexible-glass-samsu

Hybrid glass combines the flexibility and thickness of a protective film with high hardness, slightly inferior to glass. Thanks to this combination, it ranks perfectly between standard tempered glass and protective film. An important advantage of this form of protection is that thanks to its high flexibility the glass does not shatter or break, so it lasts a long, long time. Another plus is that hybrid glass is a slim product, making it virtually imperceptible when using the device. It is also easy to install, but has a slightly increased susceptibility to surface scratches compared to tempered glass.

So which solution should you choose? It already depends on the individual tastes of each user, how vulnerable the screen is to scratches or cracks and what budget we want to allocate to protect the front panel of our smartphone. However, it is worth remembering that any protection is better than none! All types of glasses and also cases for iPhone 12 you will find in the corresponding section:)

  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro – what did it surprise when it was released?

The launch of the successor to the iconic Huawei Mate 10 Pro – Huawei Mate 20 Pro– is behind us. It features an unconventional design, interesting technical solutions and, most importantly, great performance. As a representative of the company stated at the launch in London – Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the best of the Chinese company’s devices to date. What else do we know about them? What does it look like? What does it hide inside? With this article we will bring you closer to the specifications of the model.

The phone has an incredibly attractive design. It is expected to appear on the market in several color variants: pink gold and twilight, among others. The dimensions of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro are 157.20 x72.30 x8.60 mm. The bezels on the front of the device are extremely narrow, making the diagonal of the display itself as large as 6.39 inches. The screen is made with OLED technology, and its resolution is 1140×3120 pixels. Immediately you can admit that the display on the Huawei Mate 20 Lite has very good color reproduction and correct contrast.

The fingerprint reader on the Mate 20 Pro is located in the screen, but it is not visible on thescreen, as they are directly below it. The problem, however, may be that it only occupies a small part of the screen, making it hard to hit it without looking.

Something that is undoubtedly striking is the placement of the cameras on the device’s back flap. The three cameras and one flash are arranged in a 2×2 system, which looks very interesting. What deserves praise is that Huawei does not copy the rear panel arrangement/design from other companies’ devices, but creates its own original solutions. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same about the front panel, which is a carbon copy of many current smartphones – it’s all about the ubiquitous notch.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is equipped with face unlocking, which is based not only on the camera, but also on a module that builds a face map. The manufacturers said they are confident enough in their technology that in addition to the standard use for unlocking the device, it can still be used for payments, bank login, etc.

The Mate 20 Pro will run on Android 9.0 Pie. The device is equipped with the latest Kirin 980 processor used in Android smartphones. It also has 6 or 8 GB of RAM and, depending on the version, 128 or 256 GB for user files. Interestingly, Huawei has decided to give users the option to expand the memory of its Mate 20 Pro via nanoSD memory card.

The battery capacity is 4,200 mAh and it also charges inductively. What makes this battery stand out is its super-fast charging capability – the battery is said to be 70 percent charged in half an hour via a 40-watt power adapter included in the package. The Mate 20 Pro itself can also act as an inductive charger – for a watch, headphones or another smartphone that supports wireless charging.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is not equipped with a headphone input but instead we find a USB-C port for charging the smartphone. It also supports all the latest wireless connectivity standards, including LTE and NFC (for wireless payments).

    Summary:

    • dimensions 157.80 x 72.30 x 8.60 mm
    • weight 189.00 g
    • color OLED display, 16M colors, 1440 x 3120 px

The price of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro in Poland is expected to be PLN 4299. Is it a great deal? It’s hard to say. On the one hand, the device has so many interesting features and comes with such good components that you know what you’re paying for. But will it convince the market and conquer the popularity rankings? That remains to be seen, and whether it is worth buying it must be decided by each individual.
