  • Huawei Mate 30 Pro is coming

Huawei Mate 30 is coming. What do we know about it? Which case and glass to choose?

At a conference in Munich on Thursday, the Huawei Mate was unveiled in three new versions. From now on, the older models will be replaced successively: Huawei Mate 30, Huawei Mate 30 Lite and Huawei Mate 30 Pro. This year’s models will present a considerable number of changes and there will be stylistic novelties that will please the eye of many users. Among other things, the manufacturer plans to focus on the phone’s glass body. Also new is a fingerprint reader built into the display.

What do we know about the new Huawei?

    Glass casing

The Huawei Mate 30, the successor to the Huawei Mate 20, is made entirely of glass. The manufacturer has the intention to completely abandon both plastic and metal. As an added bonus, we’ll be able to count on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro being IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

    New fingerprint reader

The next new feature we will experience on the Huawei Mate 30 is a fingerprint reader built into the display itself. We’ll still experience a notch in the screen, as in last year’s Huawei Mate 20. Its size is due to the modern facial recognition system.

    AMOLED screen

In this year’s Huawei Mate 30, we will see AMOLED screens made by BOE. As for the Mate 30 Pro versions, the screen is expected to be 6.71 inches diagonal. The interesting thing is that the company has taken a step back in some sense, which may make some sense. Specifically, the idea is to drop the QHD+ resolution and replace it with FHD+. However, there will still be a notch at the top, which will be quite small. In addition, the screen will offer a refresh rate of 90 Hz.

    New processor and 5G module

Kirin 990 – is the new chip that this year’s model will be powered by. It will come in versions of
4 GB and 5 GB. In addition, we will realize a graphics chip
ARM Mali G76 MP16 600. It is also interesting to note that the Huawei Mate 30 Pro will be equipped with a proprietary Balong 5000 modem supporting a 5G module.

The camera – the icing on the cake

On this topic, the manufacturer will offer a triple module in the
Huawei Mate 30 and a quadruple module in the Huawei Mate 30 Pro. These will feature a wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens, a standard lens and a depth detection sensor. In addition, we will experience a 10x zoom, which will be a treat for professional photographers.

System – with or without Android, however?

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Huawei’s next models are to be without the Android we know and love. As standard, the new models are expected to run Android Q with the proprietary EMUI overlay version 10. Admittedly, it will most likely not have access to Google services, but the manufacturer will most likely bypass this by using the AOSP module, so most users are unlikely to feel this. There is also the option that the manufacturer will release a new variant with HarmonyOS, which is a curiosity as well as an alternative to the Android we already know.

Which case should we opt for?

The entire phone case is made of strong and hard glass. No glass is ever fully resistant to mechanical injuries, so we should opt for additional protection.

The available cases in our store not only cover the phone, but also protect it from the effects of drops and impacts. In anticipation of the release, we have prepared a range of protective cases and glasses, which will soon be revealed in the following categories:

    Mate 30

    Mate 30 Pro

    Mate30 Lite

Protective glass – an essential element

A properly selected protective glass should not affect the use of the phone in any way. It should be undetectable under your fingers. So, we do not recommend buying low-quality glasses, as they may not sufficiently protect our phone. It’s worth browsing our range of tempered glasses dedicated to the latest Huawei models right from the launch and order one of them, even before you take possession of the device.

  • Glass/eti for iPhone 11 – which one to choose?

Glass/eti for iPhone 11 – which one to choose?

Tuesday’s conference unveiled the iPhone in three new editions. As of now, last year’s models have replaced the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, respectively. While these are not revolutionary models, they introduce camera-related features hitherto unknown to Apple. For the next year, we have to put up with the presence of the notch, which was rewarded with an additional number of lenses, a camera angle expansion function and night mode. When deciding to buy a new phone, it’s worth not only knowing its specifications carefully, but also acquiring accessories to take care of its protection.

What do we know about the new iPhone?

    Cameras – the biggest novelty

The iPhone 11, successor to the iPhone XR, is equipped with 2 12mp lenses. The Pro and Pro Max models(successors to the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, respectively) have one additional camera. The examples of photos and videos presented at the conference show the possibilities of expanding the scenery. Indeed, the new lenses, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle, increase the traditional field of view of the standard camera by as much as four times. The company describes this as being able to take a few steps back when taking a picture – while still standing still.

One of the more interesting features is the ability to seamlessly switch the cameras field of view while recording video. This preserves the illusion of a video shot from several different angles. Apple also boasts the best video recording quality among the competition – as it has introduced the ability to record in 4K quality while maintaining 60 frames per second.

Another new feature of the new iPhone is the ability to take photos in night mode. This feature allows you to take clearer and better-lit photos in low light. At the same time, photos taken in this mode look very natural and are not overexposed as with a traditional flash. Night mode takes several photos at once, then merges them into one final photo, preserving the best elements of each. In doing so, it adjusts the contrast and brightness of the individual elements so that the photo looks its best.

The front camera, on the other hand, uses new smart face illumination features, and a slow motion selfie recording mode has also been added.

The new, reinforced camera system, like the display and rear casing, need special protection – protection provided by top-quality cases, films and glass.

    XDR display

Advertised as the brightest display created so far, it is expected to perform brilliantly even in bright sunlight. The highest achievable brightness can reach up to 1,200 nits. Despite its high performance, the display is said to be highly energy efficient – the iPhone is said to save as much as 15% of its battery. In addition, when viewing an image or movie with a lot of black color, the display intelligently fades out selected pixels, making the visible blacks even deeper and more natural. The NightShift function is supposed to provide color warming at night, which, in addition to its aesthetic function – is supposed to make your eyes less tired and make it easier to fall asleep. For the best screen protection, we recommend buying a suitable tempered glass.

New chip and more powerful battery

A13 Bionic – both fast and more energy efficient, which translates into longer battery life. Apple claims to have created a real monster that will embrace both 4K video and the most modern games. And games, what-ifs are not particularly associated with Apple products. The A13 Bionic is expected to support the efficiency of all new features, including those related to the camera.

A battery that is expected to last up to 4 hours longer, and a charger that allows fast charging. Counter-intuitively, this is one of the biggest new features; Apple has so far included budget versions of chargers lacking this feature.

    iphone 11 pro

    Which case should you choose?

The front and back of the phone is made of strong, hard glass – but no glass is fully resistant to mechanical trauma. Deciding on flagship iPhone models in particular, we should take care of protection. After all, repairing a broken Apple phone can outweigh any cost-effective value.

The cases available in our store not only cover the phone, but also dissipate the energy created during a fall or impact. Thanks to this, we can stop fearing a situation in which we accidentally drop the phone violently. New products from Spigen are the highest quality and excellent protection at an affordable price, and thanks to the variety of models, we can decide on the most suitable one for ourselves.

Among the cases of the Spigen brand there are not only transparent models but also traditional matte cases. The fashionable geometric design prevents the phone from accidentally slipping out of your hand.

Spigen Ultra Hybryd, on the other hand, is another transparent case that perfectly prevents scratches. Its non-slip properties provide a stable grip, so we don’t have to worry about accidentally letting the phone out of our hands.

Not all owners of Apple equipment like to expose the apple on the back case. For such people, one of the Ringke Onyx cases will be most suitable. Made of TPU, extremely flexible; however, above all, it fits perfectly in the hand. The corners equipped with air cushions perfectly protect the phone, and the design of the case effectively dissipates heat from the smartphone.

Glass – which is the best to opt for?

The right protective glass should not affect the quality of touch in any way. It should be undetectable under the fingers. Therefore, it is not worth buying low-quality glass, after all, we do not want to limit our options with glass that is rough, visible to the naked eye or hinders touch. It’s worth browsing our range of tempered glasses dedicated to the latest iPhone models now and order one of them, even before you buy your phone.

  • What do we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 10?

One of the world’s most influential companies, founded in South Korea in 1938 and specializing in consumer electronics, will soon release its latest creation. Samsung Galaxy Note 10, as the device in question, will come out in just a few weeks. Interestingly, as rumored, the manufacturer has decided to release devices in two different versions for the first time in the Note series, as was done with the launch of the Samsung S10 (to be more specific, the models on the market then were: Samsung Galaxy S10, Samsung Galaxy S10e and Samsung Galaxy Plus). This time, however, he decided to give the more expensive version a more spectacular, in my opinion, suffix – Pro.

The screen of the new smartphone is Super AMOLED with Quad HD+ resolution. In the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, the screen is expected to be 6.28 inches, and in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Pro – 6.75 inches, indicating that the smartphones will be quite large. The screen will be bezel-less, but the cutout for the front camera in this outing is expected to appear in the middle, rather than on the side, as was the case on the Samsung Galaxy S10, for example. This move will probably find both its supporters and opponents, depending on individual tastes and preferences of the user.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Pro in the basic version, according to leaks, is expected to have either 128 or 256 GB for users’ own files. They will probably appear (basic versions) as 6GB RAM+128GB for personal files (Samsung Galaxy Note 10) and 8GB RAM+256GB for files (Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Pro). Interestingly, it’s not entirely clear what will happen to the SSD card reader, but it’s unofficially said that the new devices from Samsung will be stripped of them. Is this a good thing? That depends on the potential buyer, on how many GB will be taken up by their gallery, apps and other such things. On the one hand, filling 256 GB may be difficult, but not impossible. And then what? The user will probably be forced to get rid of some of his files.

The dimensions of the smartphone are expected to be: 162.5mm in height and 77.6mm in width. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is expected to run on a Samsung Exynos 9825 chip, or on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The camera that the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will be equipped with is most likely the one we saw in the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus, which would be quite a negative move, because I have a feeling that more is required from flagships than the parameters previously used in other models from the manufacturer. It includes:

    • 12 Mpix camera, f/1.5 f/1.8 f/2.4, 78-degree viewing angle, optical image stabilization
    • 16 Mpix camera, wide-angle (viewing angle – 123 degrees), f/2.2
    • 12 Mpix
    • camera
    • with telephoto lens, f/2.4

The battery to be found in the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will have a capacity of 4500mAh and will support 45W fast charging technology. The devices are also expected to be equipped with USB 3.1 type-C, NFC, LTE, dual SIM. However, look for a 3.5mm headphone jack there in vain. For some, this is a plus, because it heralds that the company is trying to “chase” the iPhone manufacturer and is betting on new and innovative solutions, but for others it is a fad and an unnecessary hindrance to users. Well, because why look for and remember about an adapter if you can just put the headphones in the socket.

Samsung, new devices offer us in five color variants: black (Prism Black), white (Prism White), pink (Flamingo Pink), silver (Claud Silver) and in some markets – red. These are interesting color suggestions, so I’m looking forward to seeing them.

The prices we have to prepare for when we want to buy this model of the device oscillate between 000-1200. So this is, in terms of zloty, roughly from 3770 PLN up to 4520 PLN. Well, there is no denying that these are not low prices. It remains only to believe that the devices will be worth such an amount.

Is it worth investing in this device and will the rumors and leaks come true? We will find out soon, as the launch is likely to take place on August 7, 2019.

  • OnePlus 7 – what do we already know?

Chinese company OnePlus does not cease to surprise! The OnePlus 6T smartphone, which is an upgraded version of the OnePlus 6, has only just been released, and the company is already preparing something completely new. OnePlus 7 – the one in question – is certainly one of the most interesting launches in a long time. Rumors suggest that for the company, it will be a completely innovative model, which is expected to be unveiled as early as May 14.

The dimensions of the OnePlus 7 are expected to be: height – 162.6mm, width – 76mm and thickness – 8.8mm. Its chassis consists of front and rear glass and an aluminum frame. The smartphone features a 6.5-inch Optic Amoled display with a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels, or Full HD+. The ratio of the display size to the entire front panel (screen-to-body ratio) is likely to be as high as 84.5%, and the plastic of which the display is to be made is Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The processor to be found in the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 with Adreno 640 graphics, and it will be supported in front of four Kyro 485 Gold and four Kyro 485 Silver cores.

According to leaks, the OnePlus 7 will appear in a version of 8 GB RAM + 128 GB of user storage, or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB of storage.

An important specification of the OnePlus 7 is also the cameras. A triple camera module is to be mounted on the “back” of the device, which is to include a 48 Mpix camera, with a Sony IMX586 sensor, a 16 Mpix camera with a telephoto lens and an 8 Mpix camera with a wide-angle lens. In addition to what was mentioned earlier, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with a 4,000 mAh battery with up to 30W charging, USB Type-C, two multimedia speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and a 3.5mm jack input.

In addition to the entry-level OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to be released. It is expected to feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 3210×1440 pixels (QHD+). As for the front camera, it is expected to be absolutely remarkable. It will be in vain to look for it on the front panel of the device, as it is rumored to be automatically ejected from the top edge of the case.

    OnePlus 7 Pro

Will the aforementioned OnePlus 7 actually look like this and feature the above specifications? We will find out soon enough. We are left waiting and sniffing the news and our categories with cases, glasses and films for One Plus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

  • Xiaomi Mi9 and Redmi Note 7 in Poland – is it worth it?

Although the Redmi Note 7 and Xiaomi Mi 9 appeared on the market some time ago, they only recently had their premiere on the Polish market. As expected – there is a lot of interest in these models and many people are considering their possible purchase. This is evidenced, among other things, by how quickly they were sold out on the day of the Polish launch! What are their specifications? What are the prices? Are they worth buying?

    Redmi Note 7:

TheRedmi Note 7 is a smartphone whose dimensions are 159.21×75.21×8.10mm. Its weight is just 186 grams. The device is equipped with a 6.3-inch screen with a resolution of 1080x2340px (Full HD+), but you will look in vain on the front panel, the recently cult classic notch. The manufacturer opted for a slightly different solution and included a teardrop-shaped notch on the display, which is a nice change, looking aesthetically pleasing and sleek. The size of the screen relative to the entire front of the smartphone (screen-to-body ratio) is 81.4%.

    Redmi Note 7 czy warto

As for the operating system, the Redmi Note 7 runs on the latest version of Android 9.0 Pie with the EMUI 10 overlay. The processor found in the smartphone is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 with Adreno 512 graphics. The battery capacity is 4,000 mAh and, importantly, it supports Quick Charge technology version 4.0. The Redmi Note 7’s hardware also doesn’t forget Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB-C port. The fingerprint reader, which is also included in the design of the smartphone, is located on the back. Of course, the manufacturer also gave there the possibility to use dual SIM, as well as to expand the storage for files by mounting a memory card (no more than 256 GB). An important specification of this smartphone is also the cameras that are included in the device. The rear camera is a Samsung Isocell Bright GM1 with a 48MPX sensor (the first), and the second with a 5MPX sensor. The front camera, on the other hand, has a 13 Mpx matrix.

Speaking of Redmi Note 7 specifications, we also can’t forget to discuss the device’s memory. In Poland, versions will be available: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage, 4 GB RAM with 64 GB of storage, and 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage. And what will their prices be? The first one (3/32GB version) is expected to be available at 799zl, the second one (4/64GB) will cost 899zl, and the third one (4/128GB) is expected to be an expense of 999zl.

    Xiaomi Mi9 czy warto

The type of battery placed in the device is Li-Po, and its capacity is 3300 mAh. The advantage of this device is not only that it supports Quick Charge 4.0+ technology, but also has Qi inductive charging. The device features such amenities as Bluetooth 5.0, USB version C, and NFC. The latter is quite a surprise, as you don’t often see this technology in Xiaomi smartphones.

As for the cameras, in this case the manufacturer has opted for 3 rear cameras, and one front camera. The rear ones include: Sony IMX586 with 48 Mpx, Samsung S5K3M5, with 12 Mpx, and Sony IMX481 with 16 Mpx. The front camera, on the other hand, is a Sony with a 20 Mpx matrix.

On the Polish market, variants of the device are available with 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of storage for the user’s own files/data. Their prices are PLN 2099 for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of memory, and PLN 2299 for the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of memory.

Are the Xiaomi Mi 9 and Redmi Note 7 worth buying?

Xiaomi Mi 9 and Redmi Note 7 seem to be interesting propositions with quite reasonable prices. Certainly, more than one Xiaomi fan (and not only) will be tempted to buy one of the models described above. In our store you will find both dedicated cases for Redmi Note 7, as well as Xiaomi Mi 9 tempered glass.

  • Which case for the Samsung Galaxy S10/Plus/e?

The launch of the latest devices from Samsung was one of the most important technological events of the past month. The latest smartphones were presented in three versions – Galaxy S10 – the entry-level option, Galaxy S10e – the budget version and Galaxy S10 Plus – the option with the best specifications. The devices, thanks to their parameters, immediately gained a lot of fans, who probably decided to buy the right version of the smartphone for themselves. You are probably now wondering what the market has to offer in terms of protection for these phones. The Home Screen store has a wide variety of proposals dedicated to this series, among which there is sure to be something for everyone. Below is an overview and specifications of the available Galaxy S10 cases, Plus and “e” versions.

The first case designed for the heroes of the article is Spigen Crystal Hybrid. This is ideal for those who want to protect their device, but do not want the case to interfere too much with its appearance. Thanks to the included polycarbonate, the case prevents the effects of impacts on the back of the smartphone, and thanks to polyurethane, the case perfectly protects the phone from scratches. The product is made with the utmost precision and attention to detail, providing seamless access to ports. Its greatest asset, however, is its level of protection – despite the fact that it is a transparent hybrid, its thickness perfectly copes with the hardships of daily use.

Etui dla Samsunga Galaxy S10 Plus Spigen Crystal Hybrid

Another product that is in our offer and that we can suggest is Spigen Liquid Air. It is a case that is extremely thin, but you definitely can’t say that this makes it low in protection of the device. It will be a great solution for everyday use, as it perfectly protects the device from scratches, cracks or dirt. In addition, thanks to the material of which the case was made (polyurethane), the case provides a firm grip and great adhesion to the hand. An additional advantage of this product is unquestionably its small thickness, so it does not change the comfort of use of the smartphone. Interestingly, the case looks like it is made of many small triangles, so the device will look unique.

Etui dla Samsunga Galaxy S10 Spigen Liquid Air

The next product in our assortment that is designed for Samsung Galaxy S10 family devices is Spigen Liquid Crystal. This is a fully transparent case that will not affect the smartphone’s presence in any way, but will make it constantly protected from unwanted mechanical damage. In addition, thanks to the fact that it is made of TPU (polyurethane), it is extremely pleasant to the touch and perfectly adapts to the shape of the device. An important feature is also that this case improves the grip of the device to the hand, while preventing accidental slipping of the smartphone from the hand. In our store, in addition to the completely clear option, there is also a more feminine version with Liquid Crystal Glitter, which makes the device look unique and phenomenal.

Spigen Neo Hybrid is another product available in our store, whose main task is to protect Galaxy S10 devices. This case is “unique” in a sense, as it consists of a back and a separate frame. The back, made of polyurethane, is very flexible and pleasant to the touch. In addition, the material of construction prevents the device from slipping from the hand and absorbs shocks. The frame, on the other hand, is made of polycarbonate, and its main task is to bind the structure together and stiffen it. Interestingly, it was designed in a rather unconventional way, so that when the device is laid flat, a small clearance is created between it and the ground to prevent scratches. A great and extremely precise workmanship is also a huge advantage of this case. This type of case in our store can be found in many color variants such as Burgundy (burgundy-pink), Artic Silver (blue-silver), Gunmetal (black-gray) and Midnight Black (black).

Another case worthy of attention is the Spigen Rugged Armor. Made entirely of polyurethane, the case is not only extremely pleasant to the touch, but also does a great job of protecting the device from scratches, cracks or dirt. The top and bottom of the back are styled in carbon fiber, which gives the case an armored and military feel. This is not unfounded, as the Rugged Armor model (like most of the cases presented here) is MIL-STD-810 military certified.

Etui dla Samsunga Galaxy S10e Spigen Rugged Armor

The Spigen Slim Armor case is ideal for those who are not fond of large, armored cases, but still want solid protection for their device. This case, thanks to the fact that it is made partly of polyurethane and partly of polycarbonate, will perfectly protect your device from scratches, cracks and dirt. A distinctive feature of this case is that it is equipped with a stand, which will allow, among other things, to watch movies without having to hold the smartphone in your hands. Above that, it is worth appreciating the precision with which the product was made, as it provides the user with great access to ports and buttons.

It’s also worth taking a look at the Spigen Thin Fit, which as the name may suggest is extremely slim, but nevertheless perfectly protects your device from mechanical damage. Thanks to the fact that it is so thin, it allows for a comfortable grip, while not interfering with the dimensions of the device. Precise and meticulous workmanship ensures a high level of satisfaction with the product and easy access to the most necessary buttons, ports, etc. In addition, the matte finish guarantees a firm grip, so that the smartphone will not slip from our hand.

Etui dla Samsunga Galaxy S10 Plus Spigen Thin Fit

A very interesting item in our assortment is Spigen Tough Armor. It is dedicated to those who want to solidly protect their device from all kinds of mechanical damage. The case consists of two layers, polyurethane, whose task is to level out shocks, and polycarbonate, whose task is to strengthen the entire structure. This case is also characterized by the presence of Air Cushion technology, i.e. air cushions in the corners, which provide additional protection when falls occur. • Which tempered glass for the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus?

Samsung has decided to take inspiration from the solutions that Middle Kingdom companies have been using in their smartphones for some time – it’s the ultrasonic fingerprint reader built into the device’s display. Undoubtedly, this is a great solution that makes it easier to use the smartphone (try unlocking with your finger a phone that is in a more built-in car mount, where the reader is placed on the back), while not taking up space on the front of the device. However, some sites have reported that tempered glass will not work with the fingerprint reader, built into the Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus. Are we sure it will?

Tempered glass for the Samsung S10 and S10 Plus. Which to choose?

One solution to the problem is to use protective films. And many users opt for this solution – because of the cost as well as the ease of installation. There are also people who do not need outstanding protection, and for them the film is an excellent choice – many of them can “self-heal” in the case of minor scratches. But what about users who do not like to compromise and want to have the Galaxy S10 screen protected by a sheet of glass?

On the Internet, versions of protective glass have appeared that have decided to remedy the problem and “offer” a hole in the place intended for the fingerprint scanner. It sounds and looks comical, but using a Samsung Galaxy S10 equipped with this type of tempered glass would quickly cease to be a funny curiosity and become an affliction and torture of the finger – if you don’t know what I’m talking about, imagine typing on a keyboard and matching your fingertip to the keys on the edges of the hole.

However, in order not to depict the world in such gray colors we have news for you – the manufacturers we work with have decided to create accessories that will not have any unsightly hole, and will be fully compatible with the fingerprint scanner in Samsung’s new flagships. The brands in question are WhiteStone and T-Max, which specialize in the production of protective glasses that use UV-cured adhesive for mounting. Users of the products from the aforementioned brands are satisfied and agree that this is one of the best solutions when it comes to protecting smartphones with curved displays.

WhiteStone declares that it uses advanced Liquid Optical Clear Adhesive (LOCA) technology, which is designed to prevent the formation of micro-spaces between the bonded smartphone and protective glass. As a result, the finger sensor is able to seamlessly capture pressure and read fingerprints. And the T-Max brand , which is the brainchild of Guangzhou Doho Digital Technology Co., Ltd. has announced that it will use 0.2mm thick Panda glass, which is supposed to be the optimal value in terms of protection and usability of the ultrasonic scanner. It seems that it’s all about the adhesive – as WhiteStone depicts – microspaces with glass with regular adhesive are normal, and UV adhesive spills out and fills in any pores and imperfections that are problematic for the fingerprint reader.

  • What do we know about the Xiaomi Mi9?

Anyone who is even slightly interested in smartphone innovations is certainly looking forward to tomorrow. This is the day that two brand new devices will have their premiere, i.e. Samsung Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi9. We have already written about Samsung and its anticipated specifications in a previous article, and in today’s article we will focus more closely on reports about the Xiaomi Mi9.

In this case, the company has taken a rather interesting and unusual strategy. It has provided practically complete information about its new device through social media. It seems to me that a move of this kind is quite risky, because in such a case is there any point in eagerly awaiting the launch, if even before it we already know everything about the product?

Thanks to the graphics posted online by the manufacturer, we already know that the Xiaomi Mi9 will feature a Samsung AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution and a diagonal of 6.4 inches. The maximum brightness is expected to be 600 nits, and the screen is expected to be covered with Gorilla Glass and, if rumors are to be believed, to occupy as much as 90.7% of the entire front panel area. Interestingly, the screen is also expected to include a highly sensitive illumination sensor and a next-generation fingerprint reader, and the screen itself is expected to be flat (this, depending on your tastes, could be an advantage or a disadvantage). In addition, Xiaomi assures us of 100% sRGB and AdobeRGB space coverage.

In the information about the Xiaomi Mi9 from the manufacturer, we can also find mention of an octa-core Snapgragon 855 processor with Adreno 640 graphics. It is also known that the device will be available in configurations with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for user data, or 6 or 8 GB of RAM along with 128 GB of internal storage. The most powerful version is expected to be available as Explorer Edition

The most attractive part of the smartphone, according to rumors, is expected to be the camera. It has also been characterized on Xiaomi’s social media. The front camera is expected to have as much as 20 Mpix, but it is not the culprit of all the fuss. For on the rear panel of the device, is to be found, under a sheet of sapphire glass, a triple camera. The first is to have a resolution of 48 Mpix, the second 16, and the third 12 Mpix. The 48 Mpix camera gives us a 1/2″ sensor and a 6-lens lens with an aperture of F/1.75. The 16 Mpix camera is also to have a 6-lens lens, which in this case is to be wide-angle, and the aperture is to be F/2.2. The last camera is to be responsible for photos with a 2x optical zoom. This one also has a 6-lens design, and the aperture is pronounced F/2.2

Even such as new modes have surfaced online from Xiaomi. Xiaomi has included a “High Quality” mode in the Mi9, which is designed to bump up the brightness of the display by 39%. There’s also a “sunny 2.0” mode to improve contrast and comfort outdoors, and a reading mode that has increased color temperature adjustment to as much as 256-degrees, and smoother brightness adjustment.

The cheapest variant of the Xiaomi Mi9 will be available at a price of 516 (PLN 1975). The Explorer Edition version will cost $885 (£3390). Keep in mind that this is the conversion rate without taxes and distributors’ margins – in Poland, prices will probably be slightly higher.

Is the price of the device adequate to its specifications? This question must be answered by each individual. However, I am convinced that the Mi9 will gain many fans.

  • What to consider when buying a smartphone charger?

Mobile device chargers – a river topic. Some choose them consciously, so as to gain the most efficient charging and use the capabilities of the device 100%, but the vast majority use the chargers included with the device or, when the charger stops working, buy the cheapest possible option. For the most part, this is due to ignorance of the capabilities of the smartphone they own or a lack of orientation on the market when it comes to chargers. This is unfavorable, because by choosing a charger without any theoretical preparation we can not only lose out on the speed of filling our battery, but also even unknowingly do harm to our device, or even lead to a fire.

Phone charger. As the name suggests, the task of this type of accessory is to charge our smartphone. Despite the fact that as time goes by, batteries in devices have higher and higher capacities and are more robustly made, we use chargers far more often than we did some 10 years ago. This is because we now use smartphones virtually non-stop than typical phones with a keyboard or monochrome display. They also have more powerful components that require more power – here it is mainly worth emphasizing the power consumption of the large screens now mounted in such devices. Interestingly, often manufacturers do not add chargers to phones that maximize the current and charging time of the devices. So how do you choose a charger for your device so as to minimize the time it takes to fill up the battery? What options do we have?

But let’s perhaps start with the most important issue – the question of safety. Each of the branded and robust chargers has a number of safety features to protect us from unwanted side effects. These include safeguards against over-temperature of the charger, against short-circuit, against over-voltage and the like. In cheap chargers, such protections are either not found, or due to the low cost of production, they may be defective. It is important to have this kind of protection, because its absence can lead to damage to the smartphone, and in the worst case even to electric shock or fire.

    Fast charging technologies:

They include such technologies as Quick Charge, Dash Charge, Supercharge and probably hundreds of others – depending on the manufacturer. We will describe the principle of operation on the aforementioned to show the main differences.

Quick Charge is a technology developed by Qualcomm. It is by far the most common type of charging, but it only works precisely with Qualcomm-branded processors. The original version of Quick Charge supported a maximum charging current of just 2A and a voltage of 5V, giving us a 10W charge. At the time, this was not some groundbreaking development, so it went unnoticed. Then came Quick Charge 2.0, which can use voltages of 5V, 9V and 12V, and amperage of 1.67A, 2A or 3A. From this, the maximum charging power is 18W. However, it was still not what users had been waiting for with such longing. It wasn’t until Quick Charge 3.0 that it gained favor in the market and became the most popular version of fast charging from Qualcomm. It supports voltage from 3.3V to 20V and 2.6A or 4.6A. To better illustrate this, let me give an example. A smartphone with a battery capacity of 2750 mAh charges from 0 to 80% in 35 minutes. An ordinary 5W charger will charge the same device in the same time to only twelve percent of the battery capacity.

Dash Charge (from Oppo/OnePlus) and Supercharge (Huawei) work on the same principle with one key difference. Manufacturers of this type of charging have relied on increasing amperage instead of voltage. These types of charging technologies output a typical USB voltage of 5V, but have a much higher amperage instead.

Interestingly, the requirements of Quick Charge are z are definitely lower than those of Dash Charge or Supercharge. However, this does not mean that it will work with the first better cable that fits our smartphone. Quick Charge technologies can fail even if the cable is too long or too skinny. It is also not very advantageous that if you have a device with, for example, Supercharge technology, you will only charge it (with fast charging) by turning off a Supercharge-compatible charger connected to a Supercharge-compatible cable, which puts us in the position of a few years ago, where each device had a different charger input and finding the right cable was not as easy and obvious as it is today.

However, not by wires alone does man live, and in recent times the possibility of inductive charging of mobile devices has become very widespread on the market. They have several advantages as well as several disadvantages. Among the advantages is the lack of cables that we need to plug into the device. It is charged through a receiving coil (usually located in the “back” of the device) close to the transmitting coil (a spirally coiled wire around which an electromagnetic field is created). This is also an extremely convenient option, as you simply place the device on the induction charger and at this point the battery charging process is already started. Also in favor of this solution is the small size of the charger and the fact that it is usually universal. This means that you can charge devices with microUSB, Type-C and Lightning connectors on it – because in practice there might not even be a socket – we just need a power receiver. Of course, inductive chargers are not free of drawbacks. Usually the charging time is increased due to the energy losses that take place during the process of changing the electric current into an electromagnetic field. And that not all devices are equipped with coils, allowing wireless charging.

As you can see, the things we should pay attention to when choosing a charger are many. The most important thing is that such a charger should not be a potential threat to the device we own or our health or life, and that it should be compatible with the fast charging technology that our device is equipped with. And this is what we should be guided by above all when choosing a charger for our smartphone! I hope the above article will help you to make an informed choice of the right charger to suit your needs and your device.
