  • How to Choose a Case for Your Needs

The huge number of products on the market aimed at protecting smartphones is so great that customers are left with the selection of “more expensive = better.” This is not true, and this article will help you tailor a case to your needs.

It often happens that models of cases that allow for better protection are more expensive than their less armored counterparts. But is such a case the best choice? It turns out, no. For people who try to take care of their smartphones, a reinforced, thick, waterproof case that barely fits in their pocket is not necessary. However, such protection is needed for devices of people who actively spend their time. Let’s first clarify what a case is and what its purpose is.

A case for our smartphone helps mitigate scratches and damage caused by everyday use of the device. It allows the phone to be kept in impeccable visual condition and, in many cases, most importantly, protects against shocks and impacts that can be painful for our wallet. The priority when choosing a case should always be comfort and ease of use. We should not force ourselves to invest in a cover that will incredibly enlarge the device when we really don’t need it. What good is it that our smartphone will be excellently protected if every attempt to reply to a message will irritate us? Let’s choose cases tailored to our needs, and it just so happens that our team has tested a huge number of case models and we can speak on this subject.

    Slim Cases

The market for slim cases, which seemingly only adorn the smartphone, enjoys extraordinary recognition among users who have already tested this type of cover. This group includes all kinds of slim cases made from one type of material – soft polyurethane or hard polycarbonate. What can we say about this type of case? In my opinion – it is sufficient protection for most people who at least minimally care for their smartphone and are bothered by having something thicker on their device. An example that I know very well could be the MSVII case, in which the Xiaomi Mi5 has experienced several serious falls over the course of a year. The side effect is that after removing the case, the smartphone looks almost like new. Although the screen is protected by tempered glass, the glass back has been excellently protected and has not a single scratch.

    Hybrid Cases

Hybrid constructions are a recommended alternative for almost everyone who normally uses their smartphone. They are not afraid of drops, do not need incredibly thin covers, the phone is simply meant to serve. Devices equipped with a hybrid case + tempered glass form a set that will not be afraid of everyday use. Scratches, falls from small heights, shocks – a hybrid case gives a great chance that nothing will happen to our smartphone. Very often, premium brand cases (e.g., from Ringke or Spigen) have military certification MIL-STD-810G, which means that the manufacturer declares that durability tests have been conducted, which involve dropping the smartphone several times from heights of 1.2m and 1.8m. Of course, this does not give us a 100% guarantee, but it provides a general idea of durability and level of protection. Because if we try hard enough, we can even damage an old Nokia 3310 πŸ™‚

    Armored Protection

Cases designed for people who actively spend their time or whose work involves physical, intense activity. Many materials on e.g., YouTube show what these types of cases can do. It is a relatively expensive and less convenient solution than hybrid constructions, but if, due to conditions, we want to secure our smartphone as best as possible, armored products will be a great solution. Some armored products, such as Atomic Ghostek, allow for a tight seal of the smartphone in the case, thus cutting it off from the influx of water, dust, and dirt.

    Flip Cases

A type of case that has both its supporters and opponents. The flap covering the screen allows for proper protection as long as we are not using the smartphone at that time. Usually, this type of case is a hybrid of a silicone sleeve that is mounted in a closing structure, often filled with polyurethane. We must decide for ourselves whether such a case meets our requirements – from experience, I can say that it is quite a cumbersome type of case if we often mount the smartphone in car holders and if we handle the smartphone with only one hand, as it does not allow for a full grip on every edge of the case. But that is just my subjective feeling and many people highly praise this type of solution for better protection. DuxDucis is currently the only manufacturer whose flip cases we offer in our store.

    Different Cases for Different Occasions?

The ideal way seems to be having different types of cases for different conditions of smartphone use. In everyday use, let’s choose e.g., hybrid constructions, and during a trip to the mountains, let’s put on a more armored model that will prevent damage to our phone if it accidentally falls. There is no perfect case – otherwise, there would only be one model on the market that would suit everyone in every situation. And that will never be the case.

In summary: the choice of a case is up to you. You must define your needs and choose a product that is tailored to them. If you have any doubts – you can always contact us before making a purchase, and we will try to help you choose the right solution.

  • The premiere of Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus is coming!

There is little time left until the premiere of the new flagship models from the Korean manufacturer – Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus. How will they be better than their predecessors?

    Appearance

Many people are disappointed by the lack of revolution, as Samsung decided to refine only a few elements, leaving the appearance almost unchanged. One of the changes is the arrangement of the cameras and the fingerprint reader – they will be arranged vertically instead of horizontally, which is expected to significantly improve the comfort of using the smartphone. As it seems, the Korean giant listens to its customers and improves what did not work in the previous revolution.

The sizes of the smartphones will be very similar or identical to the previous series, and comparing this with the very similar appearance, those who handled the S8 or S8 Plus will not have to take long to get used to the shape of the device.

    Cameras

The new generation of the Galaxy series boasts an extremely bright and adjustable aperture of f/2.4- f/1.5 in the 12Mpix camera. The larger model will also feature a dual camera. According to recent leaks, the new generation of Samsung’s chips will allow recording videos at up to 960 frames per second.

The front camera in both cases is a single 8Mpix camera. Interestingly, the iris scanner in the smaller version will be integrated with the camera, while in the S9 Plus, the scanner and the camera will be separate sections.

    Technical Specifications

Samsung, whether it wants to or not, has followed in Apple’s footsteps, so we can expect that the Plus version will not only be larger but will also have better components. This includes a larger amount of RAM (6GB vs 4GB) and the use of a dual camera in the S9+.

Kudos to Samsung for not following the crowd and including the standard, normal, well-known 3.5mm Jack socket in its latest model. Additionally, it supports SD cards and has a dust and water-resistant IP68 casing.

It seems that the Samsung Galaxy S9 has no more secrets for us. We are left waiting for the official presentation, which is set to take place at this year’s MWC in Barcelona on February 25. Accessories and cases for the Galaxy S9 will also appear with us soon, so we invite you to follow us on social media and subscribe to our newsletter!

  • OnePlus 6 Finally Unveiled. Specifications, Price, and Variants!

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to watch the official premiere of OnePlus 6. A device that will be quite a competition for more “prestigious” brands, such as Samsung, Huawei, or Apple. Below you will find the most important information related to the mentioned device.

For a long time, we could find at least a dozen rumors and leaks about OnePlus 6 on the internet. Today we already know all the information regarding the mentioned smartphone. Let’s start with the specifications of the smartphone:

    10. Additional information: NFC, gyroscope, fingerprint reader, WiFi 802.11 a/b/d/n/ac, USB-C 2.0, DUAL SIM, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5 mm jack, and face recognition

Build, screen, and components – the most important information

In previous generations, glass was hard to find in the finish of OnePlus smartphones. This time, the manufacturer decided to change its approach, resulting in a solid combination of a glass body, metal frame, and a good front display. The head of the mentioned company emphasizes that the device can boast water resistance (although it officially does not meet the iPXX standard).

The smartphone features a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display. It offers a 19:9 aspect ratio (thanks to its resolution) and an iPhone X-like notch at the top of the screen (with the option to hide it). We also find a system similar to Face ID, allowing us to unlock our device using our face. It’s a pity that the manufacturer did not opt for an even higher resolution.

OnePlus 6 is powered by one of the strongest chipsets on the market – Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. The processor consists of 8 Kryo 385 cores and an Adreno 630 graphics unit. The entire setup is manufactured using a 10nm technology process. Adding to this 6 or 8 GB of RAM makes it a true command center at our fingertips.

    Camera as a strong point

The manufacturer decided to install a dual camera on the back of the device. 16 and 20 MP with optical image stabilization should do the trick. Additionally, Sony sensors were implemented here: IMX 519 and IMX 367K. It should be noted that the principle of operation of the lenses known from OnePlus 5T has been retained. Namely, the 20-megapixel unit is responsible for night photos. The process involves gathering light from two adjacent pixels, resulting in better photos in difficult lighting conditions. In the photography options, we also find a portrait mode, which gained popularity thanks to Apple products.

The new smartphone is not just about the camera and the quality of photos taken. Additional options related to video recording also matter. Thus, we will be able to use 60-second video materials. All to be able to choose the best moment and create so-called slow-motion. Such materials will be recorded in Full HD resolution at 240 fps or HD at 480 fps. The cherry on top will be the ability to record video 4K at 60 fps.

How much will all this cost us?

The device will be available for purchase in the following configurations:

    1. 6 GB RAM, 64 GB internal storage, color: Mirror Black – 519 euros (approximately 2200-2300 PLN);
    2. 8 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage, color: Mirror Black, Midnight Black – 569 euros (approximately 2450-2600 PLN);
    3. 8 GB RAM, 256 GB internal storage, color: Midnight Black – 619 euros (approximately 2650-2800 PLN)

As you can see, these prices are much lower than those of the main competitors, and the device does not fall behind them at all. Pre-order for the device should start on May 22. Someone may have already noticed that the entire lineup lacks a white color version. Unfortunately, purchasing the OnePlus 6 in this color will only be possible from June 5.

Soon, many accessory models for OnePlus 6 will be available in our offer!

  • Pre-release of LG G7 ThinQ and big gifts

The G7 ThinQ model has been priced at 3499 PLN in Poland. The new LG will be available for pre-order from June 1 to June 15, but as part of it, we can receive some quite interesting “gadgets,” which in initial leaks were said to be only additions for the Korean market. You probably already guess what this is about.

    A TV for a smartphone?

By purchasing the LG G7 ThinQ in pre-order from the Play network, you can get an LG 43UK6300 TV (which is currently valued at around 2 thousand zlotys in stores), of course with the ThinQ model designation, which is a distinguishing feature of the new products from the Korean giant that have artificial intelligence – they adapt to user behavior and recognize their speech.

What about other major operators? Unfortunately, we cannot count on such a large “gift,” but a nice addition could be a 24-inch computer monitor (which can also function as a TV) LG 24MT49VF.

The pre-order in retail stores looks different, and a Sphero BB 9E robot will be added to the new purchase – the perfect solution for Star Wars fans.

However, for everyone who decides to purchase the LG G7 ThinQ on the Polish market, the manufacturer offers a one-year warranty on the display, which also entitles to a one-time replacement if we damage it ourselves.

    LG G7 ThinQ Specifications

Many data from the leaks have been confirmed, namely a 6.1-inch very bright screen with QHD+ resolution, of course, with a notch, glass back, wireless charging, Snapdragon 845 – in short, everything a flagship model should have. Unfortunately, there is a lack of a stronger battery, but here we see stagnation among most manufacturers – the new LG offers only 3000mAh.

    Summary

It can be confidently stated that LG has greatly shocked with its basic addition to the smartphone in pre-order, but this was to be expected in the era of adding, for example, a console in the case of Sony. In terms of size and price, the Koreans will be hard to beat, but we are very curious about what other manufacturers will offer in the future.

Although we do not offer cases for monitors or TVs, for the LG G7 ThinQ we can propose a wide range of cases and screen protection accessories. Take a look around and find the perfect solution for yourself and, perhaps, your new LG G7 ThinQ.
