Nothing officially presented the Phone 4a and 4a Pro. Prices in Poland start at 1,599 PLN for the 4a model and 2,099 PLN for the 4a Pro. Both smartphones feature a periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom, 1.5K AMOLED displays, and a new Glyph system. Pre-orders for the Phone 4a start today — sales begin on March 13.
The Nothing Phone 4a series represents the biggest quality leap in the history of the “a” line. Periscope zoom, screen brightness up to 5,000 nits, and the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor are specifications that just a year ago were found only in flagship devices. Nothing poses the question: why pay for a flagship when a mid-range device offers 90% of its capabilities?
What’s new in the Nothing Phone 4a and 4a Pro?
The biggest changes compared to the previous generation (Phone 3a / 3a Pro):
- 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom — a huge leap from the 2x zoom in the Phone 3a. Hybrid zoom reaches 70x in the 4a and 140x in the 4a Pro.
- Brighter screens — 4,500 nits (4a) and 5,000 nits (4a Pro) vs ~2,300 nits in predecessors. Gorilla Glass 7i instead of Panda Glass.
- New processors — Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 (4a) and Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 (4a Pro). The Pro model is ~27% faster in CPU and ~65% more efficient in AI tasks.
- Revamped Glyph — Phone 4a received the Glyph Bar (63 mini-LEDs in 7 zones), while the 4a Pro got the Glyph Matrix (137 mini-LEDs with animations).
- Nothing OS 4.1 on Android 16 — 3 years of system updates + 6 years of security patches.
- eSIM in the Pro model — Phone 4a still uses only physical nano-SIM cards.

Design — two different approaches
Nothing surprised, giving each model a distinct visual identity.
Phone 4a continues the iconic transparent design. Under the Gorilla Glass 7i, the internal components — coils, screws, and PCB structures — are visible. The new colors pink and blue have a tinted layer beneath the transparent panel, creating a subtle, pastel effect.
Phone 4a Pro is a completely different story. Nothing has given up the transparent back in favor of a metal unibody made of aluminum. It is the slimmest Nothing in history (7.95 mm). It looks more premium, but loses some of its “nothing-ness” character. The transparent elements have been limited to the camera island.
The common denominator is Glyph. In the 4a model, it is the Glyph Bar — 7 square LED segments in a strip. In the Pro — Glyph Matrix with 137 mini-LEDs arranged in a circular field. The Matrix displays animated notifications, charging progress, and responds to Live Updates from Android 16.
Camera — periscope in a mid-range for 1,599 PLN
This is the biggest highlight of the 4a series. The 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and OIS is something that did not exist in the previous generation Nothing Phone 3a. The 50 MP sensor with PDAF and optical stabilization provides sharp photos even in low light.
The Pro model gets a better main sensor — Sony LYT700c — and a dual hybrid zoom (140x vs 70x in the standard 4a). Both models record in 4K with Dolby Vision and Ultra XDR.
The new TrueLens Engine in Nothing OS 4.1 adds photographic presets, including “Stretch” developed in collaboration with photographer Jordan Hemingway.

Who is Phone 4a for, and who is it for Pro?
Phone 4a for 1,599 PLN is the choice if you care about the transparent design of Nothing and don’t need the fastest processor. You get a periscope zoom, a great 1.5K screen, and Glyph Bar — all for under 1,600 PLN. The best price-to-performance ratio in the series.
Phone 4a Pro for 2,099 PLN makes sense if you want a faster processor (+27% CPU, +65% AI), 144 Hz instead of 120 Hz, IP65, eSIM, and Glyph Matrix with animations. The unibody metal construction looks premium, although it loses the iconic transparent style.
Both models are a very strong proposition in their price ranges. The 3.5x periscope telephoto lens for 1,599 PLN is something that no competitor offers at this price.
