Anyone who is even slightly interested in smartphone news is certainly eagerly awaiting tomorrow. On this day, two completely new devices will be launched, namely the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Xiaomi Mi9. We have already written about Samsung and its expected specifications in the previous article, and today we will focus more closely on the reports concerning Xiaomi Mi9.
In this case, the company has taken a rather interesting and unusual strategy. It has practically provided a complete set of information about its new device through social media. It seems to me that such a move is quite risky, because is there any point in eagerly awaiting the launch if we already know everything about the product before it?
Thanks to the graphics posted online by the manufacturer, we already know that the Xiaomi Mi9 will be equipped with a Samsung AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 6.4-inch diagonal. The maximum brightness is supposed to be 600 nits, and the screen is to be covered with Gorilla Glass and, if rumors are to be believed, is supposed to occupy as much as 90.7% of the entire front panel surface. Interestingly, the screen is also supposed to have a very sensitive light sensor and a new generation fingerprint reader, and the screen itself is supposed to be flat (this, depending on preferences, can be an advantage or a disadvantage). Additionally, Xiaomi assures us of 100% coverage of the sRGB and AdobeRGB color spaces.
In the information about the Xiaomi Mi9 from the manufacturer, we can also find a mention of the octa-core Snapdragon 855 processor with an Adreno 640 graphics unit. It is also known that the device will be available in a configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of user data storage, or 6 or 8 GB of RAM along with 128 GB of internal storage. The most powerful version is to be available in the Explorer Edition version.
The most attractive part of the smartphone, according to rumors, is supposed to be the camera. It has also been characterized on Xiaomi’s social media. The front camera is supposed to have as much as 20 Mpix, but it is not the cause of all this fuss. On the rear panel of the device, under a sapphire glass panel, there is supposed to be a triple camera. The first one is supposed to have a resolution of 48 Mpix, the second 16, and the third 12 Mpix. The 48 Mpix camera gives us a 1/2” sensor and a 6-lens lens with an aperture of F/1.75. The 16 Mpix camera is also supposed to have a 6-lens lens, which in this case is supposed to be wide-angle, and the aperture is supposed to be F/2.2. The last camera is supposed to be responsible for photos with a two-times optical zoom. This one also has a 6-lens construction, and the aperture is F/2.2.
Even such things as new modes have leaked from Xiaomi to the network. Xiaomi has included a “High Quality” mode in the Mi9, which is designed to boost the display brightness by 39%. There is also a “sunny 2.0” mode that improves contrast and comfort of using the device outdoors, and a reading mode in which the color temperature adjustment has increased to as much as 256 levels, and the brightness adjustment is smoother.
The cheapest variant of the Xiaomi Mi9 will be available at a price of 516 dollars (1975 PLN). The Explorer Edition version is an expense of 885 dollars (3390 PLN). It should be remembered that this is a conversion without tax and distributor margins – in Poland, prices will probably be slightly higher.
Is the price of the device adequate to its specifications? This is a question everyone must answer individually. However, I am convinced that the Mi9 will gain many fans.
