Glass for iPhone Duo: what to stick on which screen? [2026]

Tempered glass or film is applied to the iPhone Duo only on the 5.4-inch external screen. Do not apply anything to the 7.6-inch internal screen, as it already has a factory protective layer with a matte finish. Additionally, you can purchase a camera cover.

The iPhone Duo has been available for sale since October 23, so it’s a good time to choose protection for it. In a foldable phone, it’s easy to make a mistake, so we start with the differences between the screens, and then compare the glasses and films available in the store.

The screen protectors for the Duo that we describe in this text are intended for the external screen. Among the brands we sell, we did not find any films for the internal screen.

In Polish search results, you may come across information that Ceramic Shield 2 protects the internal screen. This is not true. Apple attributes Ceramic Shield 2 to the external screen.

Internal screen: why not to apply any film

The internal screen is factory-protected by a layer of special polymer with a scratch-resistant coating. According to Apple, this polymer is up to 40% stiffer than other materials used in the industry, and the matte nanostructured finish reduces glare and visibility of the crease line.

Apple does not explicitly state on its pages that you should not apply a film to this screen. We advise against it for three reasons:

    • The film will cover the matte finish. You will lose what you pay for: less glare and a matte surface.
    • The screen bends. Rigid glass will break, and regular film may lift at the crease line.
    • There is a FaceTime camera under the screen. The film may degrade the image quality from this camera.

Do not remove the factory layer. This is not a transport film, but part of the screen. Apple Vice President Kate Bergeron said that the layer can be removed and replaced with a new one. According to media reports, this is done by the service, not the user.

We found internal screen films only from lesser-known brands in foreign online stores. They are not available from Spigen, ZAGG, PanzerGlass, 3mk, and Bizon.

External screen: which glass to choose

The external screen has Ceramic Shield 2, which Apple claims is three times more scratch-resistant than the previous generation. Nevertheless, it is the one that most often ends up on the table, with keys and sand in the pocket, so glass makes sense here. All the covers below are cut for a 5.4-inch screen.

Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro HD: the easiest installation

Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro HD with installation frame.

Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro HD comes with a EZ Fit mounting frame. You place it on the folded phone, press it down, and the glass aligns itself. With the rounded edges of the Duo, it’s the easiest way to avoid misapplying the glass.

There is also a version with two glasses. According to Spigen, the glass fits the cases of this brand, except for the Air Skin Aramid model.

ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass XTR6: premium glass

ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass XTR6 for the external screen.

ZAGG InvisibleShield Glass XTR6 has “external” in its name, just like the privatizing glass of this brand. It’s a good option if you prefer glass from a brand specializing in screen protection.

Bizon Glass Clear and Glass Edge: two glasses in the set

Bizon Glass Clear Duo: two glasses in the set.

The Polish brand Bizon has two basic versions of tempered glass, both also available in sets of two pieces:

The second glass in the set is useful when the first one gets scratched or the installation doesn’t go well.

    3mk HardGlass and HardGlass Max

On the left 3mk HardGlass, on the right HardGlass Max with a frame.

Two tempered glasses from the Polish brand 3mk: HardGlass without a frame and HardGlass Max with a black frame covering the entire screen. Both have a thickness of 0.3 mm.

Bizon Hybrid Mule: flexible instead of glass

    Bizon Hybrid Mule: hybrid glass.

Bizon Hybrid Mule is hybrid glass, which means it is flexible. It is thinner and easier to install than tempered glass. A good choice if tempered glass seems too thick for you.

Matte film for the external screen

The internal screen is matte, while the external one is glossy. If you prefer both to look and function similarly, apply a matte film to the external screen. It leaves fewer fingerprints and reflects less light.

Bizon Film Matte: matte film for the external screen.

Bizon Film Matte has a thickness of 0.12 mm. The matte film slightly reduces image sharpness, but with a 5.4-inch screen used for quick tasks, this usually isn’t an issue.

Privacy glass: Touch ID is not a problem

Privacy glass darkens the screen for people looking from the side. In many phones, it complicates unlocking with a finger through the in-screen reader. In the iPhone Duo, this is not a problem, because the Touch ID reader is in the side button. The Duo also does not have Face ID.

Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro Privacy with mounting frame.

On the left Bizon Glass Edge Shadow, on the right matte Bizon Hybrid Shadow.

Glass for the camera: is it necessary

On the back, the Duo has two 48 MP cameras, and Apple protects the lenses with sapphire glass, which is very resistant to scratches. Therefore, a camera cover is not necessary. It is useful when the phone often lands on its back on a surface or if you want to protect the entire camera island from cracking.

Spigen Optik Pro Glas.tR EZ Fit in Night Sky color.

Bizon Glass Lens: plate for the entire camera island.

You have two types of covers to choose from:

Before purchasing the full island cover, check if it fits under your case.

    Set: screen and back film

Bizon Film Hydrogel Pack: film for the external screen and the back.

If you carry the Duo without a case, the Bizon Film Hydrogel Pack will come in handy: two hydrogel films, for the external screen and the back. According to the manufacturer, minor scratches on the film smooth out over time.

How to apply glass on iPhone Duo

    1. Fold the phone and place it with the external screen facing up on a flat table.
    2. Clean the screen with the cloth from the set, and collect any remaining dust with the dust removal sticker.
    3. If you have a mounting frame, like in Spigen glasses, put it on the phone and only then apply the glass.
    4. Press the glass from the center to push out the air bubbles.
    5. Do not press on the hinge when pressing the glass.

Glass and case: what to watch out for

Glass with a black frame covers the entire screen but may interfere with cases that cover the edges of the outer screen. Frameless glass, covering only the flat part, usually works with most cases. We compared cases for the Duo in the ranking of iPhone Duo cases.

If you are just gathering accessories, check out the text about the charger for iPhone Duo and our guide on the price and specifications of iPhone Duo.

Summary: glass and film for iPhone Duo

    • 5.4-inch outer screen: tempered glass, hybrid or film. The easiest installation is by Spigen with a frame.
    • 7.6-inch inner screen: do not stick anything and do not remove the factory protective layer.
    • Privacy glass: privacy glasses do not interfere with unlocking because Touch ID is in the button.
    • Camera cover: the lenses have sapphire, the cover is optional.

    FAQ

Can you stick glass on the inner screen of the iPhone Duo? No. The inner screen bends, so rigid glass will break. It also has a factory protective layer with a matte finish that the film would cover. Glass is only stuck on the outer screen.

Should I remove the film from the inner screen of the iPhone Duo? No. It is not a transport film, but a factory protective layer that is part of the screen. According to Apple’s vice president, it can be replaced with a new one, and according to media reports, the service does this.

Which glass is easiest to apply to the iPhone Duo? Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro, because it comes with a mounting frame. You place it on the folded phone and the glass aligns itself.

Does privacy glass block Touch ID on the iPhone Duo? No. The Touch ID sensor is in the side button, not in the screen, so privacy glass does not affect it.

Is Ceramic Shield 2 sufficient without glass? According to Apple, Ceramic Shield 2 on the outer screen is three times more resistant to scratches than the previous generation. Protective glass still makes sense, as it is cheaper to replace scratched glass than the screen.

Do I need a camera glass for the iPhone Duo? It is not necessary, as Apple protects the lenses with sapphire glass. A cover is useful if you want to protect the entire camera island from cracking.

  • iPhone Duo Case: Which One Protects the Hinge? Ranking [2026]

iPhone Duo Case: Which One Protects the Hinge? Ranking [2026]

The best case for the iPhone Duo today is Spigen Tough Armor Pro MagFit: armored, with a hinge cover and MagSafe magnets. If you want a hinge cover and a stand in one, choose Spigen Slim Armor Pro S. The thinnest is CARE by PanzerGlass Discovery: 0.9 mm thick and 14 g.

The pre-sale of the iPhone Duo, referred to before the presentation as the iPhone Fold, starts on October 16 at 2:00 PM, and sales begin on October 23. The phone costs from 9,999 PLN, so cases are usually purchased together with it, not a week later.

However, choosing a case for the folding iPhone is different than for a regular one. You need to decide whether to protect the hinge, how much thickness and weight to add, and how the case will interact with the external screen. Below we explain these three decisions and compare seven cases from four brands available in the store.

Case for the iPhone Duo: what to pay attention to with the folding iPhone

The foldable phone has two halves and a hinge between them. Therefore, almost every case for the iPhone Duo consists of two separate parts: one covers the half with the external screen, the other covers the half with the cameras. The differences begin at the hinge.

    Hinge cover: covered or exposed

The Duo hinge consists of over 100 components and is one of the most vulnerable parts of the foldable phone. Cases are divided into two groups here:

    • With hinge cover. A flexible strap covers the back and connects both parts of the case. It protects the hinge but adds thickness.
    • With exposed hinge. Two independent shells, the back remains on top. The case is slimmer, but the hinge has no protection.

If the phone often ends up on the floor, choose a hinge cover. If you mainly carry it in a bag and care about appearance, the exposed hinge will suffice.

Thickness and weight: Duo is already heavy

The iPhone Duo weighs 254 g and is the heaviest iPhone in history. When folded, it has a thickness of 11.3 mm. Each case adds more grams and millimeters, and in a phone carried in the pocket of pants, this is felt more than in a classic iPhone.

Therefore, in this case, a thin case makes more sense than usual. A rugged case offers better protection but turns the Duo into a hefty block.

    MagSafe through two halves

The Duo charges wirelessly via MagSafe and Qi2 with a power of up to 25 W. Most cases in this selection have built-in magnets, so the charger, wallet, or car mount stick to the case. They do not have magnets Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro in Crystal Clear version and Bizon Case Tur.

There are two caveats. With Tough Armor Pro, Spigen warns that some MagFit accessories may not fit because the hinge cover interferes. With Slim Armor Pro, the manufacturer states that some magnetic and wireless chargers may charge intermittently or not at all, and recommends charging with a cable.

Left edge of the external screen and Shift Left Edge setting

Apple anticipated that thick cases might overlap the edge of the screen. In the Display & Brightness settings, there is an option that the English version of iOS calls Shift Left Edge. It roughly doubles the black frame on the left side of the external screen so that the back gesture works correctly when the edge of the case covers a piece of the display.

The option was discovered by Nicolas Lellouche during tests right after the September presentation, and described by MacRumors. Thanks to it, the edge of the rugged case does not interfere with going back.

Best cases for iPhone Duo: our picks

In the store, we have cases from four brands: Spigen, UAG, PanzerGlass, and Bizon. Three Spigen models protect the hinge, while the other cases in the lineup leave it exposed. The ESR and Tech-Protect cases have not yet made it to the offer.

    1. Spigen Tough Armor Pro MagFit: best protection

On the right, you can clearly see the strap that covers the hinge and connects both halves of the case.

Our choice for anyone who wants to protect the entire phone. Spigen Tough Armor Pro MagFit has a full hinge cover, which also connects both parts of the case, along with a rugged construction with corner cushioning. It is available in the store under the name “Tough Armor Mag,” but the EAN code matches the Pro version from Spigen’s website.

    • Polycarbonate and TPU with Air Cushion technology
    • Full hinge cover, according to Spigen, slimmer than previous covers from this brand
    • N52 magnets for MagSafe
    • Raised edges around the screen and cameras
    • Available in two colors: black and Metal Slate

    Advantages:

    • Rugged construction
    • The hinge cover connects both halves of the case

    Disadvantages:

    • The hinge cover adds thickness
    • May interfere with some MagFit accessories

    2. Spigen Slim Armor Pro S MagFit: hinge cover and stand

Slim Armor Pro S: a metal ring that acts as a stand, and a hinge cover.

Spigen Slim Armor Pro S MagFit is the only case in the comparison that combines hinge protection and a stand. According to Spigen, the cover conceals the entire hinge, and its texture is designed not to interfere with folding. On the back, there is a metal ring that rotates 360°, which acts as a support at various angles.

    • Polycarbonate and TPU with Air Cushion cushioning
    • Full hinge protection, SecuLink system connecting both parts
    • Metal ring with a stand, 360° rotation
    • N52 magnets for MagSafe accessories

    Advantages:

    • Hinge protection and stand in one case
    • The ring rotates 360°, so you can set the phone vertically and horizontally

    Disadvantages:

    • Spigen warns that some magnetic and wireless chargers may not charge through the case
    • The ring adds thickness to the back

    3. Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro: transparent with hinge protection

Ultra Hybrid Pro MagFit in Frost Black color.

If you want the phone to be visible through the case while keeping the hinge covered, choose Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro. According to the manufacturer, the case features a hinge cover with the SecuLink system that covers the folding point and does not obstruct folding. There are two versions available in the store:

Both versions according to Spigen are protected against yellowing.

Ultra Hybrid Pro Crystal Clear, version without magnets.

    Advantages:

    • Hinge cover in a slim case, through which the phone is visible
    • Available in a version with MagSafe or without

    Disadvantages:

    • The Crystal Clear version does not have magnets, so the MagSafe charger will not attach
    • No stand

    4. UAG Mouve XTE: with 360° stand

UAG Mouve XTE: on the left, both halves of the case, on the right, the unfolded stand.

UAG Mouve XTE has a built-in 360° rotating metal stand. It is more useful on a foldable phone than on a regular one, as the unfolded 7.6″ screen works well for movies and FaceTime calls on the table. The stand also acts as a ring for your finger.

    • Two parts: a translucent polycarbonate plate and a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) frame with a soft-touch finish
    • Drop test according to MIL-STD-810G 516.6 (manufacturer’s declaration), Air-Soft corners
    • Built-in MagSafe module
    • Available in two colors: ash and ice

    Advantages:

    • Stand in vertical and horizontal position
    • Declared drop standard in lightweight construction

    Disadvantages:

    • In the manufacturer’s photos, the hinge is exposed

    5. UAG Mouve: durable without extras

UAG Mouve consists of two independent shells, the hinge is exposed.

UAG Mouve is made of the same material and has the same declared MIL-STD-810G standard as XTE, but without a stand. The back is flat, without a protruding support. It’s a good choice if you want solid corner protection and don’t need a stand.

    Advantages:

    • Declared drop standard, without protruding base
    • The phone is visible through the translucent back

    Cons:

    • Exposed hinge, like in XTE

    6. CARE by PanzerGlass Discovery: the thinnest

PanzerGlass Discovery aramid back: thin, but the hinge remains exposed.

CARE by PanzerGlass Discovery is made of aramid fiber, from the same family of materials as Kevlar. According to the manufacturer, it is 0.9 mm thick and weighs 14 g, so it adds very little to the 254 g of the phone. It is the only case in the comparison for which the manufacturer provides thickness and weight.

    • Aramid fiber, rigid and scratch-resistant
    • Raised edges around the cameras
    • Compatible with MagSafe and Qi

    Advantages:

    • Very thin and lightweight
    • The Duo remains slim when folded

    Disadvantages:

    • No declared drop standard and cushioning corners
    • Exposed hinge

    7. Bizon Case Tur: in five colors

Bison Case Tur: two parts with transverse grooves.

Bison Case Tur is a plastic case with characteristic transverse grooves. It is the only case in the lineup available in five colors: black, navy blue, light gray, light blue, and red.

    • Plastic, two separate parts
    • Raised edges around the screen and cameras
    • Compatible with wireless charging

    Advantages:

    • Largest selection of colors
    • Distinctive pattern with transverse grooves

    Disadvantages:

    • No MagSafe magnets
    • In the manufacturer’s photos, the hinge is exposed

What else to buy for the iPhone Duo

With a foldable phone, it’s worth thinking about two things besides the case right away.

Screen protection. You can apply tempered glass for the iPhone Duo on the outer screen. The inner screen bends, so glass won’t hold up on it. Here, only film for the iPhone Duo screen remains.

Charger. Apple does not include it in the box. To charge the Duo to 50% in about 20 minutes, you need a power adapter with at least 60 W. We compared specific models in the article which charger for iPhone Duo.

If you are still hesitating whether to buy the Duo at all, check out our comparison iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 or the article about the price and release of iPhone Duo in Poland.

    FAQ

Does the Duo iPhone case protect the hinge? Not all of them. In our offer, the cases that protect the hinge are Spigen: Tough Armor Pro, Slim Armor Pro S, and Ultra Hybrid Pro. UAG Mouve, UAG Mouve XTE, PanzerGlass Discovery, and Bizon Case Tur leave the hinge exposed.

Does the MagSafe case work with the Duo iPhone? Yes. The Duo iPhone supports MagSafe and Qi2 up to 25 W, and most cases in this lineup have built-in magnets. The Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pro Crystal Clear and Bizon Case Tur do not have magnets. With the Spigen Tough Armor Pro, some MagFit accessories may not fit due to the hinge cover.

Can tempered glass be applied to the inner screen of the Duo iPhone? No. The inner screen bends, so it is only protected by a film. Tempered glass is only suitable for the outer screen.

Does a Galaxy Z Fold case fit the Duo iPhone? No. The Duo iPhone has different dimensions (when folded 84.1 × 117.8 × 11.3 mm) and a different arrangement of cameras and buttons. You need a case designed for the Duo.

Does the Duo iPhone case cover the outer screen? Thicker cases may slightly overlap the left edge of the screen. Apple accounted for this in the Shift Left Edge setting, which widens the black frame on the left so that the back gesture works smoothly.

How much does the iPhone Duo with a case weigh? The phone itself weighs 254 g. The PanzerGlass Discovery adds 14 g. The weights of other cases are not provided by the manufacturers.

When will there be more cases for the iPhone Duo? Cases from Spigen, UAG, PanzerGlass, and Bizon are already available in the store, and more brands will be added gradually. You can always find the current selection in the iPhone Duo case category.

  • What is the best charger for the iPhone Duo? 2026 Ranking

What is the best charger for the iPhone Duo? 2026 Ranking

The best charger for the iPhone Duo is a USB Power Delivery charger with a power of at least 60 W, only from this threshold does Apple promise to charge up to 50% in about 20 minutes. Our choice is the UGREEN Nexode Air 65W, as it fits this power on one port and is the size of a matchbox.

In the box with the phone, you will find only a USB-C cable. There is no charger, and the old 20 W cube from the iPhone 12 will charge the Duo noticeably slower than the manufacturer states.

The foldable iPhone goes on sale on October 23, 2026, with pre-orders starting on October 16. This is a good time to choose a charger in advance, instead of looking for it after receiving the package.

Below are five wall chargers that meet this threshold, and further on all the other equipment: MagSafe and Qi2 25W wireless chargers, USB-C cables, car chargers, and power banks. Along the way, four things on which it’s easiest to lose the promised 20 minutes.

The iPhone Duo charges via USB-C and wirelessly, using MagSafe and Qi2 standards. Photos: Apple.

Note: The iPhone Duo is not the MagSafe Duo

Before we move on to the ranking, one distinction that is easy to overlook when purchasing.

MagSafe Duo Charger is a foldable, dual charger from Apple for the iPhone and Apple Watch, introduced in 2020 and long discontinued. The name “Duo” refers to its two charging pads, not a phone model.

iPhone Duo is a foldable iPhone from 2026, which we described in the premiere article about the foldable iPhone. It requires a regular USB-C wall charger, but one that is more powerful than previous iPhones.

If you see “Apple dual charger,” “Apple Duo Charger,” or “Apple Duo wireless charger” in the search engine, it is not a product for this phone.

Are you looking for such a dual charger? Its modern equivalent is 3-in-1 stations: they charge the phone, watch, and headphones at the same time, and unlike the MagSafe Duo, they are still available for purchase. We describe them in the section on wireless chargers later in the text.

What the iPhone Duo requires from a charger

Apple provides three numbers in the specifications, and all three are important when making a purchase.

    ParameterValue according to Apple
Wired fast chargingup to 50% in about 20 minutes
Minimum power of the power adapter60 W or higher
    MagSafe chargingup to 25 W
    Qi2 chargingup to 25 W
MagSafe charging to 50%about 30 minutes, power adapter 35 W or stronger
    ConnectorUSB-C, USB 3 (10 Gb/s)
    Included1 m USB-C cable, no power adapter
    Phone weight254 g

Note one thing: 60 W is a requirement for the power adapter, not the power drawn by the phone. The Duo does not draw 60 W continuously. However, the power adapter must have that reserve to maintain a high current in the initial phase of charging when the battery is nearly empty.

This is a change compared to the rest of the line. The iPhone 17 reaches its 50% in 20 minutes with a 40 W power adapter, which we described in the ranking of chargers for the iPhone 17. The Duo has two batteries and raises this threshold by half.

Need a charger right now? See phone chargers →

Four things that determine full speed

    1. Power on one port, not total

This is the most common trap with multi-port chargers. The manufacturer writes “65 W” on the box, but that number refers to the total across all ports. Plug in a second device, and the main port drops to 45 W or lower, and the phone falls below the 60 W threshold.

Look for specifications that state “65 W on a single USB-C port.” If you are charging a laptop and a phone from one block, go for a higher power tier: 100 W or more.

    2. USB Power Delivery, not just Quick Charge

The iPhone exclusively uses USB Power Delivery (USB PD), a standard that negotiates voltage between the charger and the device. Quick Charge is Qualcomm’s competing standard, useful for Android phones, but it offers nothing to the iPhone.

Most GaN chargers support both at the same time. Just make sure that USB PD is explicitly mentioned.

    3. GaN, if size matters to you

GaN (gallium nitride) is a material that has replaced silicon in charger transistors. It heats less and allows for fitting 65 W in a case the size of the old 20 W block.

At 60 W and above, it’s the difference between something that fits in your jacket pocket and a brick for your backpack.

    4. The cable that no one mentions on the box

Manufacturers of chargers are silent about this because the cable is usually sold separately. At 60 W, the cable must carry 3 A, and not every cable can do that, even if the plug looks identical. We will return to this in a separate section below.

The cable from the Duo box performs flawlessly. The problem starts when you reach for the first random cable from the drawer, and then you wonder why 20 minutes turned into an hour.

Ranking: 5 chargers for iPhone Duo that meet the 60 W threshold

We have ranked them from the most universal to the most specialized.

The phone will be available for sale only on October 23, so we selected them based on the parameters provided by Apple, not on our own tests with this model.

    1. UGREEN Nexode Air 65W

    Our choice

UGREEN Nexode Air 65W exceeds the 60 W threshold with a small margin and does so in a casing that you can easily carry in your backpack pocket. It has two USB-C ports and one USB-A, so you can also charge your headphones or watch from it.

You will get a full 65 W with one connected device. When you plug in a second one, the power is divided between the ports, and Duo may drop below the required 60 W. This is not a flaw of this specific model, but a feature of all multi-port chargers in this power class.

For most people who want one cube for their phone and occasionally something else, this is the most sensible choice from the entire lineup.

    2. Spigen Essential EE673EU 67W

Spigen Essential EE673EU provides 67 W, which is seven watts above the required threshold. This surplus makes sense: when charging a phone and a second small device simultaneously, you have a better chance that Duo will maintain full speed.

The port layout is identical to the UGREEN proposal: two USB-C and one USB-A. The black casing is less conspicuous at the socket than a typical white cube.

    3. USAMS JC Series CC266 65W GaN

USAMS JC Series CC266 65W GaN is the simplest way to reach 60 W without paying extra for a recognizable logo. Three ports, GaN technology, and the same 65 W as the competition from the higher tier.

If the charger is going to sit behind the couch and no one will look at it, this model does exactly the same job.

    4. Tech-Protect PowerVision NC100W GaN

Tech-Protect PowerVision NC100W solves the problem we mentioned above: it shows on a small display how many watts are actually flowing to the phone.

This is the only way to see for yourself whether the Duo is getting the promised 60 W, or if the cable or the second connected device has reduced the power. With a phone that has such specific requirements, this information is worth more than with an ordinary smartphone.

One hundred watts also provides a real reserve when using two devices at once, and is sufficient for most laptops with USB-C.

    5. Satechi 4-Port GaN Travel Charger 140W

Satechi 4-Port GaN Travel Charger 140W is a proposal for someone who travels a lot. Four USB-C ports and interchangeable plugs in American, British, European, and Asian standards replace an entire bag of adapters.

With 140 W to share, even three connected devices won’t push the phone below the threshold. If you’re also carrying a MacBook, it’s the only brick you need. For those who prefer a permanent setup on their desk, the same manufacturer offers Satechi GaN Charger 165W with four USB-C ports.

Duo Induction Chargers for iPhone: Qi2, Qi2 25W and MagSafe

Duo charges wirelessly with power up to 25 W: via MagSafe or via Qi2 in the 25 W version, which the Wireless Power Consortium designates as Qi2 25W. So you don’t have to look for accessories with the Apple logo, but you need to pay attention to the power, as older Qi2 chargers are limited to 15 W.

The names of the standards get mixed up in store descriptions, so a brief clarification:

StandardPower for iPhoneMagnetsWhat it means in practice
Qi (old)7.5 W❌The phone needs to be aligned with the coil, charges slowly
Qi2 (first version)up to 15 W✅Standard magnets, power like the old MagSafe
    Qi2 25Wup to 25 W✅Full wireless speed in Duo
MagSafeup to 25 W✅Apple’s solution, equivalent to Qi2 25W in Duo

So look for the designation Qi2 25W or simply the number 25 W in the description. The label “Qi2” alone is not enough: the same trade name now covers both 15 W and 25 W. A slower charger will work without any issues, just longer.

There is one more condition that is easy to forget: the induction charger alone is not enough. You connect it to a power adapter, and it is the adapter that determines the power. Apple states that charging MagSafe to 50% in about 30 minutes requires a 35 W or stronger adapter, and 3-in-1 stations can be even more demanding: Tech-Protect A51 needs 45 W, A52 at least 40 W. Check this in the description of the specific model before buying a pad without an adapter included.

The naming trap: “25 W” on the box of the 3-in-1 station is often the sum of all charging fields, not the power for the phone. The Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2 25W divides it into 15 W for the iPhone plus 5 W for the watch and 5 W for the earbuds. Look for a separate line in the specifications that says “output, phone”.

You will charge your phone wirelessly slower than with a cable. However, you can place it down with one motion, without aiming for the plug, and with a foldable phone with a hinge, it is more convenient than it seems.

    Tech-Protect A50 MagSafe 25W Qi2.2, single disc

    Our choice among inductive chargers

Tech-Protect A50 delivers a full 25 W for the phone, as all the power goes into one field. It is the simplest form possible: a magnetic disc on a cable.

The magnet holds securely despite the 254 grams of the Duo. If you prefer a different finish, the same manufacturer offers Tech-Protect A54 Qi2.2.

    Tech-Protect A51 ArcticBoost 3in1, full 25 W for the phone

Tech-Protect A51 ArcticBoost is a rare case of a 3-in-1 station where the phone receives a full 25 W, while the watch and headphones have their own power budget alongside. The manufacturer requires at least a 45 W power supply for this.

Additionally, it has active cooling. Inductive charging inherently generates heat, and heat is the main enemy of battery life, so at 25 W this is a real value, not marketing. A cheaper alternative is Tech-Protect A52 3in1 Qi2.2, also with 25 W for the phone, but without a fan and requiring 40 W on the power supply.

    Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2, foldable stand with 15 W

Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2 holds a phone, watch, and headphones, and the Duo stand keeps the phone upright, so you can see notifications on the external screen without picking up the phone. When folded, it takes up little space, making it a sensible travel charger.

Note the power: the manufacturer states 15 W for the iPhone, despite the “25W” in the name. For overnight charging, this doesn’t matter; for daytime top-ups, a model with the full 25 W would be better.

Satechi Qi2 Trio Wireless Charging Pad, flat mat 15 W

Satechi Qi2 Trio is the same idea in a flat version, also with 15 W for the phone. The Duo lies horizontally instead of standing, which makes sense on a nightstand where a stand would block the alarm clock or lamp.

With a foldable phone, a flat mat has one more advantage: you can place the Duo closed on it without stressing the hinge.

We gathered a broader overview of this category in the guide which MagSafe charger to choose, and you can find the full offer in the wireless chargers category.

USB-C Cables: This is where you can easily lose the promised 60 W

The cable from the Duo box is one meter long and carries the required power. The problem arises when you need a second cable: a longer one for the bed, a shorter one for the backpack, or a spare one for work.

A 60 W charging cable must carry 3 A at 20 V. This is the upper limit for a regular USB-C cable: above 3 A, the cable must have an e-marker chip that informs the charger of its capabilities. The Duo fits exactly within this limit, so a decent cable without an e-marker will suffice, but it operates at the edge.

Three numbers worth watching in the description:

    • Current: 3 A is exactly what you need; 5 A provides a buffer and ensures that the bottleneck is the charger, not the cord
    • Power: 100 W and 240 W cables carry the required 60 W well within their limits
    • Data speed: a separate parameter, completely unrelated to power

This last thing is the most surprising. Most 100 W cables transmit data at USB 2.0 standard, which is 480 Mb/s. The Duo has a USB 3 connection with a bandwidth of 10 Gb/s, so when transferring video material, the difference is more than twenty times.

This also applies to both cables below: both charge at full power, both transmit data in USB 2.0. If you are looking for a cable for fast recording transfers, check the transfer speed separately, as it is a completely different product category.

Tech-Protect UB20T Ultraboost 100W, spring cable for car and desk

Tech-Protect UB20T Ultraboost cable supports 100 W at 5 A, which is well above the 3 A required by the Duo.

Its construction is spring-loaded: at rest, it coils down to a few centimeters and stretches up to 180 cm. In the car and on the desk, this means the end of tangles, as the cable returns to shape instead of lying in a knot.

    Tech-Protect UB10T Ultraboost 240W, with extra for a laptop

Tech-Protect UB10T Ultraboost cable transfers 240 W in EPR extension from the USB PD 3.1 standard. For a phone, it’s an overkill, but if the same cable sometimes needs to power a laptop, you buy one cable instead of two.

A meter length works well at the desk and in the backpack. For a permanent workstation at the computer, a shorter and cheaper Tech-Protect Ultraboost DNA 100W is sufficient.

More about choosing the cable is written in the article which fast charging cable to choose. The full offer is in the USB-C cables category.

    Car chargers for iPhone Duo

Duo claims up to 24 hours of typical usage, but two screens can quickly eat through that. In the car, different factors matter than at the desk: navigation on a large internal screen drains the battery faster than a weak charger from the cigarette lighter can charge it.

The principle is the same as with a wall charger. The car charger must provide 60 W on one port for the phone to charge at full speed. Popular 18 W or 30 W adapters will maintain the battery level during navigation, but will not raise it.

    Wireless charging mount Tech-Protect MM25W-V8

Tech-Protect MM25W-V8 Mount combines a windshield or dashboard mount with a 25 W Qi2.2 charger. You attach your phone magnetically and it starts charging immediately, without plugging in the connector every time you get in.

With Duo, there’s one more benefit: the mount keeps the phone secure, so you don’t stress the hinge while on the road.

UGREEN EC705 130W, for the driver with a laptop

UGREEN EC705 charger provides 130 W across three ports, so your phone gets its 60 W even when a laptop or passenger tablet is charging next to it. The package includes a 5 A cable, which is exactly what is required for full power.

An alternative with two USB-C ports is the Tech-Protect CC03 100W.

Note on descriptions: car chargers described as “PD 60W” often split this power between ports, for example, 30 W on USB-C and 18 W on USB-A. For Duo, only the number at the USB-C port matters, not the total from the box.

We described more options in the guide fast car charger, and the full offer is in the car charger category.

    Power banks for iPhone Duo

A power bank for a foldable phone is chosen differently than for a regular smartphone, for one reason: Duo weighs 254 g. This is clearly more than a classic iPhone, so a magnetic power bank attached to the back turns the set into something you don’t want to hold to your ear for half an hour.

Hence a simple rule: magnetic up to 10,000 mAh or wired above. Heavier cells are better kept in your pocket and connected with a cable.

Tech-Protect PB40 LifeMag 10,000 mAh, magnetic with full Qi2.2 power

Tech-Protect PB40 LifeMag power bank has 10,000 mAh and charges wirelessly in the Qi2.2 standard with a power of 25 W, which is as much as Duo can accept without a cable. You attach it to the back of your phone and go on.

It’s the most convenient solution for the city: charging starts the moment you place it, without searching for a plug in your pocket.

    UGREEN PB773 10,000 mAh 30W, magnetic with USB-C port

UGREEN PB773 power bank combines magnetic mounting with a 30 W USB-C port. You wirelessly add energy on the go, and charge faster with a cable when you have a moment to stop.

Thirty watts through the cable won’t give the claimed 20 minutes to half by Apple, but it still exceeds the 25 W available wirelessly.

UGREEN PB726 20,000 mAh 165W, for longer trips

UGREEN PB726 Powerbank is in a different league: 20,000 mAh and 165 W, which means it can charge Duo at full speed and still have power left for a laptop. The built-in retractable cable also solves the problem of always missing a cable.

This powerbank is for a backpack, not for a pocket. However, on a two-day trip without access to a socket, it replaces the rest of this article. If you care about power with less weight, check out UGREEN PB537 20,000 mAh 55 W.

Pre-flight advice: as of March 27, 2026, new ICAO rules apply. Each passenger is allowed a maximum of two powerbanks, each up to 100 Wh (20,000 mAh is about 74 Wh, so it fits within the limit). They may only be carried in the cabin, must be kept within reach, not in the overhead compartment, and cannot be recharged from onboard sockets.

You are choosing between the Duo and Samsung’s foldable. We compared both in the comparison of iPhone Duo and Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a separate ranking of chargers for Samsung can be found in the text about chargers for Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

    Summary

The Duo charger for iPhone comes down to one number and three details surrounding it.

    1. The power supply must be at least 60 W, otherwise you won’t see the promised 50% in 20 minutes
    2. What matters is the power on one port, not the total written on the box
    3. The cable must carry 3 A at 20 V, so 100 W and 5 A cables are a safe choice
    4. Wirelessly you will get 25 W via MagSafe or Qi2 25W, but the pad needs its own power supply, from 35 to 45 W depending on the model
    5. There is no power supply in the box, only a USB-C cable, so the brick needs to be purchased separately

The rest of the equipment revolves around the same thresholds, with one exception. The power bank is chosen not for power, but for the weight of the phone: magnetic up to 10,000 mAh, heavier cells on a cable.

If you have to buy one thing before picking up the phone, let it be a 65 W charger with USB Power Delivery. The rest, from the induction pad to the power bank, can wait until you learn your habits with the new phone.

At least 60 W. Apple states that with a 60 W or stronger power adapter, the phone will charge to 50% in about 20 minutes. Weaker chargers will work, but slower.

Can you charge the iPhone Duo with a 65 W charger?

Yes, and it is actually recommended. The phone only draws as much power as it needs, and a higher wattage charger never “forces” it. A 65 W power adapter provides a small buffer above the required threshold.

Is a 67 W charger good for the iPhone Duo?

Yes, and it is one of the better choices. Seven watts above the required 60 W threshold provides a buffer that allows the phone to maintain full speed even when you connect headphones or a watch to the second port.

Can the iPhone Duo be charged with a 100 W or 140 W charger?

It is possible and completely safe. USB Power Delivery negotiates the voltage and current between the charger and the phone, so the device draws only as much as it can handle. A more powerful charger is useful when charging multiple devices at once.

Does the iPhone Duo need an original Apple charger?

No. Any power adapter that supports USB Power Delivery with a power of 60 W or higher is sufficient. Apple does not require MFi certification for wall chargers, and for wireless charging, compatibility with the Qi2 standard is what matters.

Is there a charger included with the iPhone Duo?

No. In the box, you will find only a 1-meter USB-C cable. The wall adapter needs to be purchased separately, just like with every iPhone since 2020.

How fast does the iPhone Duo charge?

Up to 50% in about 20 minutes with a 60 W or stronger adapter. MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging works with a power of up to 25 W, so a full charge takes significantly longer than with a cable.

Will an old 20 W charger from the iPhone charge the Duo?

It will charge, but much slower than Apple states. The foldable iPhone has two batteries, and with a 20 W adapter, the charging time increases several times compared to the stated 20 minutes to reach half capacity.

Data: iPhone Duo specifications, comparison of Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra and Samsung press release

Appearance and format: two passports, different proportions

Both phones when folded resemble a passport, rather than a narrow bar like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. However, the differences are noticeable in hand. The iPhone Duo is 6 mm shorter and 2 mm wider, but is 11.3 mm thick, while the Fold 8 is only 9.7 mm.

An even greater difference concerns weight. The Fold 8 weighs 201 g and according to Samsung is the lightest Fold in history. The iPhone Duo weighs 254 g, over a quarter more. When unfolded, the thickness difference decreases, but the Fold 8 is still thinner: 4.5 mm compared to 5.2 mm.

On the left, the unfolded iPhone Duo, on the right, the Galaxy Z Fold 8. Sources: Apple Newsroom, Samsung Newsroom

Apple has made the casing from Grade 5 titanium with a mirror polish. Samsung opted for Flex Titanium technology, which is a titanium layer under the screen that is meant to strengthen the panel and over time reduce the visibility of the crease.

Verdict: Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is lighter by 53 g and thinner when folded by 1.6 mm.

    Screens and the crease

On paper, it’s a draw. Both internal screens have 7.6 inches, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and brightness of up to 3000 nits. The iPhone has slightly denser pixels (430 vs. 403 ppi), but you won’t see this difference from a normal distance.

What matters is the finish. The iPhone Duo has a matte nanostructural coating that suppresses reflections and, according to Apple, reduces the visibility of the crease line. Samsung uses a low-reflectance finish and a Vision Booster feature, but does not describe the screen as matte.

The second difference is the aspect ratio. In the Fold 8, the internal screen has a 4:3 format, close to square, which is comfortable for reading and working on documents. According to Apple, both Duo screens have the same aspect ratio, so when unfolded, the content scales proportionally, and the transition from the small screen to the large one is smooth.

Note: some Fold 8 owners have noticed that the corners of the inner screen slightly bend under pressure. In response to users in South Korea, Samsung explained that this is a deliberate cushioning zone that protects the display, not a defect. This also applies to the Fold 8 Ultra. Reports SamMobile.

Verdict: a tie with a slight edge for the iPhone Duo due to its matte finish.

Performance and system: A20 Pro vs Snapdragon

The iPhone Duo received the A20 Pro, the same chip as the iPhone 18 Pro, with a vapor chamber directly connected to the processor. Samsung uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 12 or 16 GB of RAM. These are flagship chips of this generation, so neither phone will lack power in everyday use. Which one is faster in games will be shown in tests.

The bigger difference is in the software. iOS 27 on the iPhone Duo introduces Split View for the first time, allowing two apps side by side. Samsung has been developing multitasking for seven generations of Folds: One UI divides the screen into three apps and adds floating windows.

Galaxy AI in Polish, Apple Intelligence without Polish

For Polish users, this is one of the most important differences in this comparison. Galaxy AI supports the Polish language: it includes features such as live conversation translation and Writing Assistant.

Apple Intelligence operates in 16 languages, among which Polish is not included. If AI features are important to you, the Fold 8 clearly offers more today.

iOS 27 Features That Won’t Be Available in Poland

iOS 27 launches in the European Union with limitations. Apple announced in June that due to the requirements of the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), the new Siri AI is being delayed in the EU. Along with it, you won’t receive the new Siri app, enhanced Visual Intelligence, integrated writing tools, or Siri mode in the camera.

This is important because these features were showcased by Apple as the biggest advantage of the large Duo screen. On the Polish iPhone Duo, you are left with just the foldable screen and Split View.

Updates: 7 Generations at Samsung, Minimum 5 Years at Apple

Samsung promises for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series seven generations of Android updates and seven years of security patches, which starting with Android 17 provides support until Android 24. Apple does not specify how many versions of iOS the iPhone Duo will receive. In documents for the British regulator, it declares a minimum of five years of security patches from the launch for iPhones.

In practice, iPhones usually receive updates longer than this minimum, but on paper, Samsung’s guarantee is stronger.

Verdict: performance is a draw until tests, and the software in Poland favors the Fold 8: Galaxy AI in Polish and longer declared support.

Cameras: 48 MP vs 50 MP, both without telephoto lens

The sets are almost identical. The iPhone Duo has two 48 MP cameras (main and ultra-wide), while the Fold 8 has two 50 MP cameras. Neither has a telephoto lens, but both offer 2x optical quality zoom, which is a crop from the center of the main sensor.

On the left, iPhone Duo in starlight white and midnight sky colors, on the right, cameras of Galaxy Z Fold 8. Sources: Apple Newsroom, Samsung Newsroom

Both manufacturers similarly utilize the second screen. On the iPhone Duo, the Duo Preview feature shows a preview of the shot to the person being photographed. Samsung allows simultaneous recording with the front and rear cameras, with a preview on the external screen.

With the main camera of the Duo, you can record 4K Dolby Vision video at 120 fps, while the Fold 8 has the My FanCam feature, which automatically tracks a selected person and crops the recording to social media format.

Who takes better photos will only be revealed by tests. The 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and the 200 MP camera have been reserved by Samsung for the Fold 8 Ultra, which we show in the comparison of Ultra with Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Verdict: a tie until tests. The camera setups are almost identical.

    Battery and Charging

Samsung provides specifics: 4,800 mAh in two cells. Apple does not disclose capacity. It is only known that the Duo also has two cells, one in each half, and according to the manufacturer, it lasts up to 24 hours of typical usage.

Fast charging according to the manufacturers looks like this:

    • iPhone Duo: 50% in about 20 minutes with a 60 W USB PD charger, 50% in about 30 minutes with MagSafe and a 35 W charger, wirelessly on MagSafe and Qi2 chargers up to 25 W.
    • Galaxy Z Fold 8: 63% in about 30 minutes with a 45 W charger and a 3A cable, wirelessly up to 20 W (Qi), and it also supports reverse charging for other devices.

Neither of them comes with a charger in the box. For the Duo, choose a USB PD wall charger with a power of at least 60 W, and for the Fold 8, a 45 W charger compatible with Samsung’s fast charging (USB PD with PPS). We described specific models in the guide about chargers for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, as both Folds charge at the same power.

Verdict: undecidable, as Apple does not provide capacity. The Duo charges faster wirelessly (25 W versus 20 W), while the Fold 8 can charge other devices.

    Durability: IP68 vs IP48

Here the iPhone has a clear advantage. IP68 rating means complete dust resistance, and Apple claims that the Duo is resistant to immersion up to 6 m for 30 minutes.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has IP48. Samsung claims resistance to immersion up to 1.5 m in fresh water for 30 minutes, but it only partially protects against dust, as the standard covers particles larger than 1 mm. The manufacturer itself advises against using it on the beach and by the pool.

On the front, the iPhone features a Ceramic Shield 2 layer, which according to Apple is 3x more scratch-resistant than the previous generation. By 2026, the Duo will also receive support for Apple Pencil, while Samsung has already abandoned the S Pen stylus with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Verdict: iPhone Duo. IP68 is a real advantage in a phone with a movable hinge.

The difference in the base version is 1,250 PLN in favor of Samsung. For the price of the basic Duo, you can buy the Fold 8 with 512 GB and have 400 PLN left. The Fold 8 is already on sale, while the iPhone Duo goes on pre-sale on October 16 at 2:00 PM and hits stores on October 23. Only Apple offers a version with 2 TB.

Before purchasing, check your SIM card. The iPhone Duo does not have a tray and only supports eSIM. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a nano-SIM slot and supports eSIM, with a maximum of two active lines at the same time according to SamMobile. If you are using a physical card, ask your operator for an eSIM before switching to the Duo.

Verdict: Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is cheaper in every capacity and available immediately.

Which foldable phone to choose: iPhone Duo or Galaxy Z Fold 8?

The choice is simpler than the length of the table suggests:

    • Choose the iPhone Duo if you have an iPhone, Mac, or Apple Watch, you care about dust resistance, and you plan to write with a stylus. However, be prepared for a higher price, greater weight, and lack of AI in Polish.
    • Choose the Galaxy Z Fold 8 if you use Android, want a lighter phone, AI in Polish, and richer multitasking. You save 1,250 PLN and can buy it right away, but you have to reckon with weaker dust protection (IP48) and lack of a stylus.
    • Consider another model if you care about zooming from a distance. None of these foldables have a telephoto lens; for example, the iPhone 18 Pro has one (4x) or the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (3x).

Switching from iOS to Android (or vice versa) just for a foldable phone is rarely worth it. Apple Watch works exclusively with iPhone, iMessage and FaceTime won’t transfer to Android, and Galaxy Watch doesn’t work with iPhone. You can transfer data using the Move to iOS app or Samsung Smart Switch, but you won’t be able to transfer the accessory ecosystem and subscriptions.

In the showdown between iPhone Duo and Galaxy Z Fold 8, there is no single winner. The key takeaways:

    1. The screen is a tie. Both have 7.6 inches, and the Duo stands out with its matte finish.
    2. Fold 8 is lighter and thinner. 201 g and 9.7 mm compared to 254 g and 11.3 mm.
    3. Duo is more water-resistant and will get a stylus. IP68 vs IP48, and support for Apple Pencil will arrive in 2026.
    4. Fold 8 has AI in Polish and longer support. Apple Intelligence does not support Polish, and Siri AI does not work in the EU at launch.
    5. Fold 8 is cheaper by 1,250 PLN and available immediately along with a full range of accessories.

Accessories for Galaxy Z Fold 8 and iPhone Duo: what you can buy today

This is a practical difference that is easy to forget. There are already dozens of products available for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 in our offer: cases, glass, films, and camera covers. The category of iPhone Duo accessories is waiting for the first models that manufacturers will prepare after the official dimensions are published.

    Spigen Airskin Aramid MagSafe

Spigen Airskin Aramid MagSafe is a thin case made of aramid fiber with a magnetic ring. The Fold 8 does not have built-in magnets, so only with such a case can you attach it to MagSafe chargers and mounts, while the phone retains its greatest advantage, which is its low weight.

    Supcase UB Grip Mag MagSafe

Supcase UB Grip Mag MagSafe is the choice for those who want stronger protection and a more secure grip. The case will not improve dust resistance, but it will protect the edges and hinge area from drops and scratches.

    Tech-Protect Easy Set Foil & Glass Fit+ 4in1

Tech-Protect Easy Set Foil & Glass Fit+ 4in1 combines a film for the inner screen with glass for the outer one, which is exactly how a foldable should be protected. We explain why rigid glass is not suitable for the inner screen in our review of glasses for Galaxy Z Fold 8.

FAQ: iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8

Which is better: iPhone Duo or Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8?

Neither wins in everything, and whether the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy turns out to be better mainly depends on the system you are already using. The iPhone Duo is more waterproof (IP68) and will support Apple Pencil by 2026, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is lighter by 53 g, cheaper by 1,250 PLN, and has Galaxy AI in Polish.

What does the iPhone Duo have that the Samsung doesn’t?

Full dust resistance with an IP68 rating, a version with 2 TB of storage, a matte finish on the internal screen, and built-in MagSafe magnets, so it works with magnetic chargers without an additional case. It will also receive support for Apple Pencil by 2026.

iPhone Duo or Galaxy Z Fold 8? A Comparison of Foldables

iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a choice between two foldable phones in a passport format, with an internal screen of the same diagonal of 7.6 inches. The iPhone wins with its IP68 dust and water resistance and the Apple ecosystem. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is 53 g lighter, thinner, cheaper by 1,250 PLN, and has Galaxy AI in Polish.

The choice will mainly depend on the system you are already using. We compared both phones parameter by parameter based on the official specifications from Apple and Samsung, and at the end of each section, we provide a brief verdict.

One caveat: the iPhone Duo will be available for sale only on October 23, so this is a comparison of manufacturer data, not a test.

The iPhone Duo is 6 mm shorter and 2 mm wider, but it has a thickness of 11.3 mm, while the Fold 8 is only 9.7 mm.

Apple has crafted the casing from Grade 5 titanium with a mirror polish. Samsung opted for Flex Titanium technology, which includes a titanium layer under the screen designed to strengthen the panel and gradually reduce the visibility of the crease over time.

Verdict: Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is lighter by 53 g and thinner when folded by 1.6 mm.

    Screens and crease

On paper, it’s a draw. Both internal screens measure 7.6 inches, with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and brightness of up to 3000 nits. The iPhone has slightly denser pixels (430 vs. 403 ppi), but you won’t notice this difference from a normal viewing distance.

Finish matters. The iPhone Duo features a matte nanostructural coating that reduces glare and, according to Apple, minimizes the visibility of the crease line. Samsung uses a low-reflectance finish and Vision Booster feature, but does not describe the screen as matte.

The second difference is the aspect ratio. In the Fold 8, the internal screen has a 4:3 format, close to square, which is comfortable for reading and working on documents. According to Apple, both Duo screens have the same aspect ratio, so when unfolded, the content scales proportionally, and transitioning from the small screen to the large one is seamless.

Note: some Fold 8 owners have noticed that the corners of the inner screen slightly bend under pressure. Samsung explained to users in South Korea that this is a deliberate cushioning zone that protects the display, not a defect. This also applies to the Fold 8 Ultra. Reports SamMobile.

Verdict: a tie with a slight advantage for the iPhone Duo due to its matte finish.

Performance and system: A20 Pro vs Snapdragon

The iPhone Duo features the A20 Pro, the same chip as the iPhone 18 Pro, with a vapor chamber directly connected to the processor. Samsung uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy with 12 or 16 GB of RAM. These are the flagship chips of this generation, so neither phone will lack power in everyday use. Which one is faster in games will be shown in tests.

The bigger difference is in the software. iOS 27 on the iPhone Duo introduces Split View for the first time, allowing two apps side by side. Samsung has been developing multitasking for seven generations of Fold devices: One UI splits the screen into three apps and adds floating windows.

Galaxy AI in Polish, Apple Intelligence without Polish

For Polish users, this is one of the most important differences in this comparison. Galaxy AI supports the Polish language: features include live conversation translation and Writing Assistant.

Apple Intelligence operates in 16 languages, among which Polish is not included. If AI features are important to you, the Fold 8 clearly offers more today.

iOS 27 features that will not be available in Poland

iOS 27 launches in the European Union cut down. Apple announced in June that due to the requirements of the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA), it is withholding the new Siri AI in the EU. Along with it, you won’t get the new Siri app, enhanced Visual Intelligence, integrated writing tools, or Siri mode in the camera.

This is important because these features were showcased by Apple as the biggest advantage of the large Duo screen. On the Polish iPhone Duo, today you only have the foldable screen and Split View.

Updates: 7 generations at Samsung, minimum 5 years at Apple

Samsung promises for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series seven generations of Android updates and seven years of security patches, which starting with Android 17 provides support until Android 24. Apple does not specify how many iOS versions the iPhone Duo will receive. In documents for the British regulator, it declares for iPhones a minimum of five years of security patches from the release.

Both manufacturers similarly utilize the second screen. On the iPhone Duo, the Duo Preview feature shows a preview of the frame to the person being photographed.

Who takes better photos will only be shown by tests. The 10 MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom and the 200 MP camera have been reserved by Samsung for the Fold 8 Ultra, which we demonstrate in the comparison of the Ultra with the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

    Battery and Charging

Samsung provides specifics: 4,800 mAh in two cells. Apple does not disclose capacity. It is known that the Duo also has two cells, one in each half, and according to the manufacturer, it lasts up to 24 hours of typical use.

    • Galaxy Z Fold 8: 63% in about 30 minutes with a 45 W charger and a 3A cable, wirelessly up to 20 W (Qi), and also reverse charging for other devices.

None of them comes with a charger in the box. For the Duo, choose a USB PD wall charger with a power of at least 60 W, and for the Fold 8, a 45 W charger compatible with Samsung’s fast charging (USB PD with PPS). We described specific models in our guide on chargers for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, as both Fold devices charge at the same power.

Verdict: inconclusive, as Apple does not provide capacity. The Duo charges faster wirelessly (25 W versus 20 W), while the Fold 8 can charge other devices.

    Durability: IP68 vs IP48

Here, the iPhone has a clear advantage. IP68 rating means complete dust resistance, and Apple claims the Duo is resistant to immersion up to 6 m for 30 minutes.

On the front, the iPhone features a Ceramic Shield 2 layer, which Apple claims is 3x more resistant to scratches than the previous generation. By 2026, the Duo will also support Apple Pencil, while Samsung dropped the S Pen stylus already in the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Verdict: iPhone Duo. IP68 is a real advantage in a phone with a movable hinge.

Verdict: Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is cheaper in every capacity and available immediately.

Which foldable phone to choose: iPhone Duo or Galaxy Z Fold 8?

The choice is simpler than the length of the table suggests:

    • Choose iPhone Duo if you have an iPhone, Mac, or Apple Watch, you care about dust resistance, and you plan to write with a stylus. However, be prepared for a higher price, greater weight, and lack of AI in Polish.
    • Choose Galaxy Z Fold 8 if you use Android, want a lighter phone, AI in Polish, and richer multitasking. You save 1,250 PLN and can buy it immediately, but you have to reckon with weaker dust protection (IP48) and lack of a stylus.
    • Consider another model if you care about close-ups from a distance. Neither of these foldables has a telephoto lens; for example, iPhone 18 Pro (4x) or Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra (3x) has one.

Switching from iOS to Android (or vice versa) is rarely worth it for a foldable phone. Apple Watch works exclusively with iPhone, iMessage and FaceTime won’t transfer to Android, and Galaxy Watch doesn’t work with iPhone. You can transfer data using the Move to iOS app or Samsung Smart Switch, but the ecosystem of accessories and subscriptions won’t carry over.

In the duel of iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8 there is no single winner. The key takeaways:

Foldable iPhone Duo: price in Poland, specifications, release date

iPhone Duo is the first foldable iPhone, known from leaks as the iPhone Fold. Apple unveiled it on September 9, 2026: the phone opens like a book, has a 7.6-inch inner display, a 5.4-inch outer display and Touch ID instead of Face ID. In Poland it costs from 9,999 PLN. Pre-orders opened on October 16 and sales start on October 23, but Apple’s online store currently delivers new orders only at the end of January 2027.

Updated October 21, 2026: we’ve added an overview of the first reviews, the delivery date for new orders, Apple Pencil support from iOS 27.2 and a comparison with the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

We waited seven years for a foldable iPhone after the debut of the first Galaxy Fold. In leaks it was also called the iPhone Ultra or iPhone 18 Ultra, and before the event we gathered all the reports in our iPhone 18 Pro launch preview. Apple has not explained where the name Duo came from.

Below you’ll find the specifications confirmed by Apple, Polish pricing, delivery times, a comparison with the iPhone 18 Pro Max and three compromises that get less attention. We covered the differences from Samsung separately in our comparison iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold 8. When does the iPhone Duo launch in Poland and how much does it cost?

In Poland, the iPhone Duo is part of the first launch wave and costs from 9,999 PLN for the 256 GB model. Pre-orders opened on Friday, October 16 at 2:00 PM, and sales start on Friday, October 23, 2026. On that day the phone launches in more than 70 countries and regions, with 28 more following on October 30.

So Poland is in the first wave of the launch. Apple’s online store already has the iPhone Duo configurator with prices in Polish złoty.

StoragePrice in PolandPrice in GermanyPrice in the US
    256 GB9,999 PLN2,299 EUR1,999 USD
    512 GB10,999 PLN2,549 EUR2,199 USD
    1 TB12,999 PLN3,049 EUR2,599 USD
    2 TB15,999 PLN3,799 EUR3,199 USD

Leaks about the iPhone Fold pointed to a price of around $2,000, and they turned out to be right. The Polish price includes 23% VAT and the German one 19% VAT, while the US price is quoted before tax, which explains much of the difference after conversion. The 2 TB model costs 15,999 PLN, 5,700 PLN more than the iPhone 17 Pro Max with the same storage in Apple’s August price list.

When will the iPhone Duo be delivered? Delivery times for new orders

The few who ordered in the first minutes of pre-orders will get the phone on launch day. After that, delivery estimates slipped quickly: according to MacRumors, less than half an hour after pre-orders opened, they had moved to the end of January in most countries. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman writes about “severe supply constraints” caused by production difficulties.

Apple’s online store for Poland currently shows (as of October 21, 2026) delivery of new orders at the end of January 2027, for all storage options and both colors. The dates keep changing: 9to5Mac reports on orders whose delivery Apple has moved up, so check the current date in the Apple Store configurator before you buy.

What to have ready before you order:

    • An Apple Account signed in to the Apple Store online or the Apple Store app, with a saved delivery address and payment method.
    • Your chosen storage and color. The options are 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB, in Star White or Night Sky.
    • An eSIM from your carrier. The Duo has no SIM tray, so check whether your carrier offers eSIM and how to transfer your number to it.
    • A charger and a case. There’s no power adapter in the box, and for the fastest charging Apple requires a 60 W charger. We cover cases and screen protectors below.

iPhone Duo dimensions: folded and unfolded

Folded, the iPhone Duo is the size of a passport, and unfolded it is thinner than any previous iPhone. According to Apple’s specifications:

    Dimensions folded117.8 × 84.1 × 11.3 mm
    Dimensions unfolded117.8 × 164.6 × 5.2 mm
    Weight254 g
    Outer display5.4 inches
    Inner display7.6 inches

For comparison, according to 9to5Google the Galaxy Z Fold 8 weighs 201 g and is 9.7 mm thick when folded. The Duo is therefore noticeably heavier and thicker, which we discuss in more detail in the section on compromises.

Two displays and a hinge: how the foldable iPhone works

The iPhone Duo opens like a book, just like the Galaxy Z Fold. Folded, it’s the size of a passport: the 5.4-inch outer display offers 90% of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. Open it and you get 7.6 inches, a display that Apple says is 50% larger than the one on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.

According to Apple, both displays have the same aspect ratio, so content scales proportionally and switching from the small screen to the large one is seamless. On top of that there’s ProMotion up to 120 Hz, Always-On and up to 3000 nits of brightness in sunlight. Both displays also support the Apple Pencil (USB-C), more on that below.

    Display crease and matte finish

The inner display has a nano-texture finish, the matte surface known from the MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. It reduces glare and, according to Apple, makes the crease less visible. The display is protected by a polymer layer that Apple says is up to 40% stiffer than the materials used in the industry so far.

The panel is sandwiched between layers of durable glass, bonded so that they slide against each other like the pages of a book. A titanium plate reinforces the whole assembly from underneath. The hinge is made of more than 100 parts and, together with a built-in magnet array, gives a secure, satisfying close.

iOS 27 on a foldable display

The system has a dedicated layout for the iPhone Duo. The Dock and navigation buttons move to the side, and the Dynamic Island appears vertically along the edge. When unfolded, you see two Home Screen pages, with Today widgets on the left.

The biggest new feature is Split View: two apps open side by side. No previous iPhone could do this, and Apple didn’t show this mode at the June iOS 27 presentation at WWDC 2026. Placed on a table, the Duo switches to StandBy on either display, even without a charger.

Netflix, Zoom and Slack already have versions optimized for the large display.

Apple Pencil on the iPhone Duo: which stylus and from when

Apple had promised stylus support “later this year”, but it’s arriving sooner. MacRumors and 9to5Mac confirmed on October 21 that the Apple Pencil works with the iPhone Duo starting with iOS 27.2: in the RC test build, the stylus draws, takes notes and scrolls in supported apps on both displays. According to 9to5Mac, the public release of iOS 27.2 is expected around October 26.

Only the Apple Pencil (USB-C) works, and it costs 399 PLN in Apple’s online store. The Apple Pencil Pro and the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) don’t work with the Duo, so if you have one of them for your iPad, you’ll need the USB-C model for the foldable iPhone. Apple lists only this one stylus, so don’t assume that third-party styluses will work.

iPhone Duo cameras: two 48 MP lenses, no telephoto

On the back there are two cameras: a 48 MP Fusion main camera (f/1.6, sensor-shift stabilization) and a 48 MP Fusion ultra wide (120°, macro), the same as in the iPhone 18 Pro. Instead of a telephoto lens you get 2x optical-quality zoom: the camera crops the center of the 48 MP sensor and saves a 12 MP photo.

The main camera records 4K Dolby Vision video at 120 fps. On the front there are two cameras: a 12 MP Center Stage camera in the outer display and a FaceTime camera hidden under the inner display.

Apple sample photos: left, the 48 MP main camera; right, a group selfie from the Center Stage camera. Source: Apple Newsroom

The two displays enable features that no other iPhone has:

    • Duo Preview: the person being photographed sees the frame on the outer display and can adjust their pose.
    • Selfies with the rear cameras: with a preview on the outer display, at a higher resolution than with the front camera.
    • Smart shutter: an AI model takes the photo automatically when it detects that you’re posing.
    • Animation for kids: Peanuts characters appear on the outer display to draw a little one’s gaze toward the lens.
    • Duo FaceTime: a second person joins the call via the outer display.

Performance and battery life of the foldable iPhone

The Duo has the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro, but it is cooled by a vapor chamber connected directly to the processor. According to Apple, this gives up to 35% higher sustained performance than the iPhone 17 Pro. The point of reference is last year’s model, not the iPhone 18 Pro with the same chip.

The gain should be noticeable in games and during long sessions with two apps.

Each half of the body houses a separate battery, and the two work as one. Apple doesn’t give the capacity in mAh, only battery life figures:

    ScenarioBattery life according to Apple
    Typical useup to 24 h
Video on the outer displayup to 44 h
Video on the inner displayup to 31 h
Streaming on the outer displayup to 37 h
Streaming on the inner displayup to 26 h

Three compromises of the foldable iPhone

The specifications already reveal three weaker points of the Duo, and the first reviews confirm them. Check them before you order.

    1. It’s the heaviest iPhone ever. It weighs 254 g and is 11.3 mm thick when folded. Even the iPhone 18 Pro Max weighs 249 g. According to 9to5Google’s comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 weighs 201 g at 9.7 mm, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold 239 g at 10.1 mm.

The Duo only becomes the thinnest iPhone ever when unfolded: 5.2 mm.

    2. No Face ID and no telephoto lens. Apple is bringing back Touch ID in the side button, which works with the phone open or closed. You can also unlock the Duo with an Apple Watch. If you often shoot from a distance, the iPhone 18 Pro with its 4x telephoto will do a better job.

    3. eSIM only and no Apple Intelligence in Polish. The Duo has no tray for a physical SIM card and supports eSIM only, with up to two active numbers at the same time. Apple Intelligence works in 16 languages, and Polish isn’t one of them.

The new Siri AI has been available as a beta in English since September 14, but according to Apple not yet in the EU, which means not in Poland either.

You also won’t be able to use the new iPhone Handoff feature (one number on two iPhones) right away. At launch it only works on T-Mobile in the US and Telekom in Germany.

What reviewers say about the iPhone Duo

The first iPhone Duo reviews were published on October 21, 2026, two days before sales start, after roughly a week of testing. Most scores are high, from 7/10 at The Verge and Wired to 4.5/5 at Tom’s Guide, TechRadar and PCMag. Reviewers agree in praising the matte display, the hinge and the build quality, but they are just as unanimous that this is still a first-generation product: heavy, without Face ID or a telephoto lens, and with many apps not yet adapted to the new displays.

    Most often praised:

    • The matte inner display. The nano-texture finish reduces reflections and hides the crease. You see it mainly at an angle and in certain lighting conditions, and you can feel it with your finger.
    • Hinge and build quality. The hinge holds the phone at almost any angle, and the titanium frame and IP68 rating set the Duo apart from other foldables. Joanna Stern had a machine fold her unit more than 32 thousand times and felt no change in how the hinge works (MacRumors report).
    • Performance and two apps side by side. According to Tom’s Guide and Gizmodo, the Duo is almost as fast as the iPhone 18 Pro. Reviewers find Split View intuitive, and Apple’s own apps make use of the large display right away.
    • Battery. In most tests it lasts a day of typical use. In Tom’s Guide’s test (web browsing over 5G) the Duo lasted 13 hours 20 minutes, more than 3 hours longer than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, but less than the iPhone 18 Pro Max (17 hours 31 minutes).

    Most often criticized:

    • Apps that aren’t adapted. This is the most common complaint. Older apps appear in a small window with black bars or with an empty strip on the right. Full support requires developers to rebuild their apps with the iOS 27.1 SDK, and updated apps were still arriving during testing.
    • Weight and thickness. At 254 g it’s heavier than the iPhone 18 Pro Max, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 weighs 201 g. Wired, Gizmodo and Spider’s Web write about a tired hand and a weighed-down pocket.
    • No Face ID. Touch ID in the side button works well, but reviewers describe instinctively waiting for the phone to unlock on its own. Unlocking with an Apple Watch helps.
    • Cameras weaker than on the Pro models. There’s no telephoto lens and no ProRes or Log recording, and in low light the photos fall behind the iPhone 18 Pro. The camera under the inner display (about 4 MP according to tests) is good enough for video calls, but not for photos.
    • Limited multitasking. Only two apps fit on the screen, in a fixed half-and-half split, and in portrait you can only pin a video above another app. The Duo runs iOS 27, not iPadOS, so it can’t use iPad apps. The controls are on the right side, which makes the phone harder to use for left-handed people.
    • Heat and the matte display. The Verge and Wired noticed that the phone can get warm, according to The Verge especially during longer camera use. The matte finish also produces slightly paler colors and shallower blacks than a glossy OLED.

Reviewers couldn’t test Apple Pencil support yet, because it only arrives with iOS 27.2. Wired and Engadget, however, expect the matte display surface to work well for writing and drawing. The price comes up less often as a complaint, since competing foldables are similarly expensive, but most reviewers stress that this isn’t a phone for everyone.

iPhone Duo or iPhone 18 Pro Max?

The largest of the classic iPhones is the natural alternative to the Duo: the same chip, a similar weight and a big screen without a hinge. In every storage tier the Duo costs 3,200 PLN more. Below are the figures from Apple’s websites.

For the extra 3,200 PLN you mainly get a 7.6-inch display with Split View and stylus support. The 18 Pro Max wins on almost everything else: it has a telephoto lens and Face ID, lasts longer on a charge, charges faster and takes a physical SIM card. The weight is almost the same, but the folded Duo is shorter and more than 2.5 mm thicker, so it sits differently in your pocket.

If you don’t need a large screen for working with two apps, the 18 Pro Max gives you more for less, and without waiting until the end of January. We’ve collected the prices of all 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max versions in our iPhone 18 Pro price list for Poland.

Cases and screen protection for the iPhone Duo

Apple showed two of its own cases right away. The iPhone Duo Case consists of two parts, one for each half, and costs 399 PLN. The iPhone Duo Folio has a stand that lets you prop the phone up at various angles and costs 629 PLN. Both are already available in the Apple Store.

Left: the two-piece iPhone Duo Case; right: the Folio with a stand. Source: Apple Newsroom

A case for a foldable iPhone is usually two separate shells, because it has to leave the hinge free to move. No iPhone 17 or 18 case will fit.

Screen protection on a foldable follows its own rules, which we already covered in our guide to glass and film screen protectors for the Galaxy Z Fold 8:

    • Outer display: tempered or hybrid glass, just like on a regular iPhone.
    • Inner display: flexible film only, because rigid glass won’t survive the folding.
    • Don’t remove the factory layer on the inner display: it’s part of the display, not a shipping film.
    • Matte effect: a glossy film will cover the nano-texture finish, so choose a matte film for the Duo.

Our iPhone Duo cases category already includes models from Spigen, UAG, PITAKA, Mercury and PanzerGlass, most of them with MagSafe magnets. We compared them in our iPhone Duo case ranking, split into models with and without hinge protection. You’ll find screen protector films and glass in the iPhone Duo accessories category.

How to charge the iPhone Duo: chargers and power banks

No need to wait here. There’s no wall charger in the box, and the iPhone Duo has specific requirements. Apple gives two figures:

    • 50% in about 20 minutes with a USB PD wall charger rated at 60 W or higher and a USB-C cable that supports 60 W,
    • 50% in about 30 minutes with a MagSafe charger connected to a wall charger of 35 W or more.

Wireless charging works with MagSafe and Qi2 at up to 25 W. Qi2 15 W chargers should also work, just more slowly. A 20 W wall charger from the iPhone 12 era will do as well, but charging will take longer than Apple states.

We chose the chargers below based on the specifications Apple provides, not on our own tests with this phone. More models, split into wall chargers, MagSafe chargers and power banks, are covered in our ranking which charger to get for the iPhone Duo.

    UGREEN Nexode Air 65W

UGREEN Nexode Air 65W exceeds the 60 W threshold Apple requires for the fastest charging. It has two USB-C ports and one USB-A port, and thanks to GaN (gallium nitride) technology it’s compact despite its high output. You get the full 65 W with a single device connected. When you charge two at once, the power is split between the ports and the Duo may not get the required 60 W.

    Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2 25W

Satechi 3-in-1 Qi2 25W charges your phone at the full Qi2 25 W, and a watch and earbuds along with it. The foldable design takes up little space when folded, so it also works well for travel.

    Tech-Protect PB40 LifeMag 10,000 mAh

Tech-Protect PB40 LifeMag is a magnetic power bank using the Qi2.2 standard, which means 25 W wireless charging. You snap it onto the back of the phone and charge on the go without a cable. With a phone that weighs 254 g, you’ll definitely feel any power bank in your hand.

If you prefer a simple desk charger, Tech-Protect A54 MagSafe 25W Qi2.2 delivers the same power in a single charging puck.

You’ll find more models in the wireless chargers and MagSafe accessories categories.

Is the iPhone Duo worth buying?

It depends on what you use your phone for:

    • Buy it if you want a large screen for movies, reading and working with two apps, and you don’t plan to leave the Apple ecosystem.
    • Choose the iPhone 18 Pro if a telephoto lens, Face ID and a lighter body matter to you. It’s also significantly cheaper.
    • Consider the Galaxy Z Fold 8 if you use Android and weight and price matter more to you than water resistance.

Also keep in mind that this is a first-generation device. Apple hasn’t said how many open-and-close cycles the hinge is designed for, and in new device categories, first-generation weaknesses are usually only fixed by the second generation.

    Summary

The iPhone Duo is the first foldable iPhone and also the heaviest and most expensive iPhone Apple has ever released. The key facts:

    1. Poland is in the first wave. Sales from October 23, price from 9,999 PLN, but new orders won’t arrive until the end of January 2027.
    2. Two displays with the same aspect ratio. 5.4 inches folded, 7.6 inches unfolded, with a matte finish, Split View and Apple Pencil (USB-C) support from iOS 27.2.
    3. The compromises are real. 254 g, 11.3 mm folded, no Face ID or telephoto lens, eSIM only, and Siri AI isn’t available in the EU at launch.
    4. Its edge over Samsung is IP68 and the ecosystem. The Galaxy Z Fold 8, on the other hand, is lighter and cheaper.
    5. You can buy chargers today. A 60 W wall charger and a 25 W Qi2 charger will make full use of what the Duo can do.

It’s worth ordering a case together with the phone, and before it arrives, check that your wall charger delivers at least 60 W. A weaker one will still charge the phone, just more slowly.
