Huawei Mate 20 Pro – what did it surprise when it was released?

The launch of the successor to the iconic Huawei Mate 10 Pro – Huawei Mate 20 Pro– is behind us. It features an unconventional design, interesting technical solutions and, most importantly, great performance. As a representative of the company stated at the launch in London – Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the best of the Chinese company’s devices to date. What else do we know about them? What does it look like? What does it hide inside? With this article we will bring you closer to the specifications of the model.

The phone has an incredibly attractive design. It is expected to appear on the market in several color variants: pink gold and twilight, among others. The dimensions of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro are 157.20 x72.30 x8.60 mm. The bezels on the front of the device are extremely narrow, making the diagonal of the display itself as large as 6.39 inches. The screen is made with OLED technology, and its resolution is 1140×3120 pixels. Immediately you can admit that the display on the Huawei Mate 20 Lite has very good color reproduction and correct contrast.

The fingerprint reader on the Mate 20 Pro is located in the screen, but it is not visible on thescreen, as they are directly below it. The problem, however, may be that it only occupies a small part of the screen, making it hard to hit it without looking.

Something that is undoubtedly striking is the placement of the cameras on the device’s back flap. The three cameras and one flash are arranged in a 2×2 system, which looks very interesting. What deserves praise is that Huawei does not copy the rear panel arrangement/design from other companies’ devices, but creates its own original solutions. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same about the front panel, which is a carbon copy of many current smartphones – it’s all about the ubiquitous notch.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro is equipped with face unlocking, which is based not only on the camera, but also on a module that builds a face map. The manufacturers said they are confident enough in their technology that in addition to the standard use for unlocking the device, it can still be used for payments, bank login, etc.

The Mate 20 Pro will run on Android 9.0 Pie. The device is equipped with the latest Kirin 980 processor used in Android smartphones. It also has 6 or 8 GB of RAM and, depending on the version, 128 or 256 GB for user files. Interestingly, Huawei has decided to give users the option to expand the memory of its Mate 20 Pro via nanoSD memory card.

The battery capacity is 4,200 mAh and it also charges inductively. What makes this battery stand out is its super-fast charging capability – the battery is said to be 70 percent charged in half an hour via a 40-watt power adapter included in the package. The Mate 20 Pro itself can also act as an inductive charger – for a watch, headphones or another smartphone that supports wireless charging.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is not equipped with a headphone input but instead we find a USB-C port for charging the smartphone. It also supports all the latest wireless connectivity standards, including LTE and NFC (for wireless payments).
